Comet observatory 3 from Mario Galaxy, and Waltz of the flowers from the famous composer Tchaikovsky sound really similar, and I was wondering if Tchaikovsky inspired the song from Mario Galaxy?

I think it’s more because of the nature of waltzes. They tend to have “Strong-weak-weak” beat patterns. Look up other classical era waltzes and they all share similarities to Comet Observatory.
Sounds more like It came upon a midnight clear, the Christmas song
It definitely is, but a lot of that is because the Comet Observatory theme is a waltz, and all waltz’s have that:
**1** 2 3 **1** 2 3 **1** 2 3
thing going on, that and the instrumentation is similar. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was indeed meant to be reminiscent of Waltz of the Flowers
I don’t think the melodies or harmonies are similar, but they are both waltzes and they are both in the key of D Major, so they do sound somewhat similar because of that.
