Nintendo

Nintendo should do more “Greatest Hits”-style games, and I’m not talking about Nintendo Selects here.

What I mean by “greatest hits” games is stuff like [Mario Party Superstars](https://youtu.be/2jEq0F656aY?feature=shared) or [WarioWare Gold](https://youtu.be/nIUNW9sjGUA?feature=shared): something that celebrates the legacy of an established franchise while also serving as a solid standalone title on its own. These brings back a lot of elements and ideas from previous entries in that series. This is NOT the same thing as a collection; it is still classified as a new standalone entry, just that it does more to celebrate than innovate. A popular third party game under this same banner would be Sonic Mania; of the 12 included zones, 8 of them are actually remixes from previous Sonic games.

Oh and before I forget, [Rhythm Heaven Megamix](https://youtu.be/B-4YoppQ6NM?feature=shared) is another excellent example of what I mean by “Greatest Hits” Nintendo games: Of the 100 rhythm games included, 70 of them were brought over from past games while the remaining 30 were all new.

i mean for these kinds of games dont we generally just call those “sequels”? when you take old content and mix in new stuff, thats generally a sequel

I mean Nintendo has done that quite a bit.

    – Super Mario All-Stars
    – NES Remix 1 + 2/Ultimate
    – Game & Watch Gallery series
    – Rhythm Heaven Megamix
    – Wario Ware Gold
    – Mario Party Superstars
    – Mario Party: The Top 100
    – Mario Kart: Super Circuit (has all the SNES tracks)
    – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (is essentially greatest hits) or rather every Mario Kart has been that way since DS.
    – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (same as MK8D)
    – Mario Sports Superstars is mini versions of all the Mario Sports games with both Namco and Camelot developing their respective sports.
    – Kirbys Dream Collection (compilation of past Kirby games as well as new challenge levels in the style of Return to Dreamland)
    – Splatoon 3 is kinda one as well with a ton of reused content from 1 and 2 but with some new things as well.

Mario Party Superstars is definitely a collection and not a new standalone entry. (it is also one of the Switch’s best games, love it)

I would not compare it to Sonic Mania, which was more of a throwback or love letter.

  4. I wish we got a Mario Party Superstars but with a focus on the GameCube era. Ton of fun stuff to pick from there

Would love a Pilotwings remix. Or just a new Pilotwings.

Mario 64 remix with a Odissey visuals and biger castle would be cool.

I would argue that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the DLC courses and Smash Ultimate are exactly this already.
