Maybe some kids will enjoy this, but as a hardcore fan of the original I’ll have to pass. Splash damage? 0 damage on perfect blocks? This’ll be even easier than wonder.

Edit: I stand corrected, physical damage (not magic) could be blocked in the original.

We’ve seen a lot of info so far, it looks fantastic, but there’s a crucial bit of info that they really should clear up. >!Please tell me 100 jumps will be easier, it’s the only thing I could never do in the original.!<

Honestly if I don’t care about “improved” graphics (I still love how the original looks), what reason is there to get this instead of just playing the original if you own it? Unlike Links Awakening, the game doesn’t need any QOL refreshers. The original holds up amazingly…. 60 is a lot to spend on a game I’ve owned for close to 30 years now unless it’s going to be a drastically new experience. Maybe I’ll borrow it from the library before deciding to buy.

The gameplay additions seem rather minor. Am I’m missing something?

Edit: Instead of being rude and sarcastic to me like children, can somebody just answer my question? Are there significant gameplay additions that I’m missing?

Perfect example here of how social media creates echo chambers. Dissenting views get downvoted and hidden by the mobs. Nobody follows [reddiquette](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette) anymore. Upvote and downvote based on relevance, not whether you agree or disagree with somebody.

For myself the original has this eerie or mysterious sort of feeling that i’m not getting from the new release. Everything is just a little too nice somehow, great game regardless.

  5. I hope they still have the secret Final Fantasy boss

man, that change in mario’s victory pose is super sad to see. i kinda miss the battle encounter sequence too, not really feeling the rainbow effect. still really excited to play this!

I loved the original and I know this will be amazing… but what in the world is with the phoned-in cover art?!?!?! Is that really what Nintendo is going with? Character models on a white background????????

  8. Just give us that 9 out of 10. I don’t need previews

  9. RIP Yoshi, the box art won’t be the same without u

I never played the original, but this looks awesome. For sure would like to pick it up day 1

Super Mario RPG was such a popular game that the only copy they had, was always rented out. I’d be able to get it from time to time. And my save file was always gone. This dude is lucky.

But, I still remember the smell of the video rental place.

I could live to be a 100 and still not understand the Yoshi racing game

People who played the original, is this good for a 4 year old?

We played sea of stars, kid likes the non combat areas and we use it as another reading exercise tool but we got sidetracked when I got SMWonder. Hoping we would be playing this longer that SoS since it’s an IP the kid likes.
