It really is a shame that this game never became a full-on franchise like its contemporaries Zelda, Metroid, and (eventually) Kid Icarus did. It could have been a more action-focused version of the Zelda games, since the game was already built on the same engine as the original Zelda game.

Plus, Nintendo does seem fond of the main character Takamaru and using him across various other projects:

    * Being in the Wii version of Samurai Warriors 3, including a sort-of remake of his game in that style

    * His appearance in Captain Rainbow

    * An attraction based on his game in Nintendo Land

    * His game finally being released internationally on the 3DS Virtual Console, even if it wasn’t translated.

    * Becoming an Assist Trophy in Smash 4, along with getting a Mii Costume.

I know that Hideki Kamiya wanted to make a new Murasame Castle game, but he said that almost a decade ago, and he no longer works with PlatinumGames, so who knows if that’ll ever come into fruition.

I was so confused at first because I thought it was saying that the show Lost was based on The Mysterious Murasame Castle.
