Games appears to run at 720p docked. Other footage has shown that it runs at an uncapped 30fps (going between 28-35fps). In handheld, other footage shows it to be about 540-720p and uncapped 30fps.

Day One Patch isn’t out yet on Switch, so this is only the very early section of the game that has no additional download files. Language Packs are available already.

the graphics itself are surprisingly good but the lighting is no where to be seen 😭

  3. Impressive. I thought this would end up being a s*** show, this actually looks playable :p

  4. MonkeMayne

Definitely the worst version but it looks totally playable. A lot of bells and whistles missing but the meat of the game is still there and it doesn’t look like a PS2 game. Very impressive port, hats off to the devs!

  5. Mukigachar

Honestly it looks fine for switch. I wonder how the FPS will be in some of the more intense sections. The massive amount of aliasing is par for the course on switch at this point

  6. Luffyndoso

I never thought they could get this game on the Switch, so quite surprised

  7. walksintwilightX1

Interesting. Loading times are long, which was to be expected. Otherwise it seems to run without a hitch. I suppose the reviews will be out soon.

  8. TheHappyMask93

Honestly looks much better than what I was expecting.

  9. Derped_my_pants

I expected this port to either be cancelled or turn out to be a total shitshow.

At first glace it seems to pretty good given the hardware it had to work with!

  10. vulturevan

Looking at this, Scarlet and Violet have zero excuses

  11. FalafelBall

In the trailer, which uses footage captured on the Switch, you can see dropped frames and stuttering especially in combat and when using spells. But honestly this is a great example of how far good optimization can go (and why Pokemon has no excuse for Scarlet/Violet), and all the talk of the Switch having the power of an old mid-tier Android phone is overblown.

That said, I am excited for Switch 2 or whatever is next, because if they can get an big, current open world game playing this well on the original Switch, I’m excited what the next Switch would be capable of.

  12. Schuhsohle

I am playing it with my girlfriend since yesterday and it is totally playable. Ok you can’t compare the graphics with an PS5 but my girlfriend loves it and she can play it while she’s on a train

  13. AThrowawayAccount100

The game apparently only needs an 8 gb download which is surprisingly a lot less than I was expecting.

  14. Mother_Restaurant188

    Massive props to the developers.

Yes it looks rough compared to current gen and PC but what they managed to do with old mobile hardware is incredible.

It almost gives it an early to mid 2000’s early vibe to it. In a good way.

I would totally get this copy if I didn’t already have the game on Steam.

  15. chiefofwar117

This looks great considering it’s on Switch. I have seen nightmare ports this one looks very polished

  16. Ravenq222

Looks pretty good honestly. I ended up just buying the PS4 version on sale instead, but Switch looks like a viable option.

  17. I don’t work in game development but this is probably the most impressive technological achievement I’ve seen in my lifetime. Seriously, I’d love to work with their product managers someday. Beyond impressive!

  18. Entire-Assistance842

Amazing looking games like Spiderman 2 or GoW Ragnarok always impress but nothing impresses me more than developers who properly optimise games for weaker headware.

It is why Killer Instinct, SF Alpha 2 and Doom blew me away on the SNES back in the day and Doom 2016, Eternal, Alien Isolation etc blow me away on Switch today.

That is where game devs really show their skills.

This looks like another well optimised game.

  19. schuey_08

I think this might be the new standard for miracle Switch ports.

  20. GassoBongo

The lack of NPC’s is really jarring, especially in areas where they’re still using crowded space ambience in the background. Feels odds to hear a chatty Hogwarts with hardly anyone walking around.

That being said, this seemed like an impossible port, so I’m really impressed that this thing even exists on the Switch. Game Freak has no excuses for Pokemon at this point.

Edit: I’m not sure what the downvotes are for. If you disagree, then have a conversation with me about it.

  21. acart005

Im not gonna pay 60 bucks (more because it sounds like it gets boring late) but I’ll absolutely nab it on sale. Miracle ports deserve money.

  22. Of everything, thank to Capcom for pushing Nintendo for 2GB more RAM

  23. prudent_allan21

Looks great and the official trailer is just wow!

  24. Revaniter92

I’m getting it. I already have Xbox Series version, but didn’t complete it. I tend to prefer games with a lot of collectibles, riddles to solve etc. on Switch, because I can play a little here and there and I complete them much quicker.
Now seeing how it performs it convinced me to get it. Also as appreciation for putting a lot of effort to make this port possible and done well.
Can’t wait to play it in handheld

  25. AyoadeNBN

not bad, i might consider this a miracle port tbh

  26. Jardolam_

Got to hand it to the developers. As capable as they are I still did not expect it to look and run like this. Also makes me so excited for a Switch 2.

  27. opp0rtunist

This is some next level programming magic! Woah

  28. themoviehero

For anyone playing for the first time, each house has one exclusive quest. It’s early on so you can play through it to that point 4 times really easily to play them all. They’re short but if you’re a fan of the HP world and lore they’re cool. For example, hufflepuff gets to go see Azkaban.

  29. Revolution64

Looks good, but where are all the NPCs ?

  30. ChocoFud

The fact that this has already been heavily downgraded to run on Switch but still looks a lot better than Pokemon SV 💀

  31. AssistantToThePA

    It looks surprisingly good.

I wonder what it could look like on a hypothetical Switch 2

  32. Lundgren_Eleven

All the comments: I was very doubtful of this, but am now impressed and might get it.

Warner: This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Warner Bros. Entertainment Interactive

    Are they stupid?

  33. ricky2304

Oh wow, this genuinely caught me off guard. Might have to see what this game is about soon

  34. camcrogers95

They need a raise for pulling this off.
