    “MK8 Sales Plummet: Nintendo Doomed?”

    “MK8 Sales PROVE we’re getting MK9 in 2024!!!”

Impressive run for a game that, in its original form, is almost 10 years old

  3. Killboypowerhed

That’s insane. I can only imagine what they have planned for a new Mario kart game. It can’t possibly live up to this

  4. Evello37

Watch Nintendo start funding SETI so that they can find new people to sell MK8D to, now that everyone in our solar system owns the game.

Although in reality it’s probably still actually in the top 20 as Nintendo doesn’t report digital sales and most of the other companies on the list do

I suppose there’s a little holdup before the holiday bargains among the casual crowd that still is getting it now, and even that deep well must run dry sometime.

  7. Big_Burg420

Honestly, just hoping for a double dash 2, I think it’s time

  8. Shnazzyone

Might have to do with everyone already owning a copy. Wait until Christmastime. It’ll be back.

  9. ItsHammond

It’ll be back soon. I have no doubt that the new cart with all DLC is going to sell well during the holiday season.

NINTENDO IS DOOMED! THEY SHOULD GO THIRD PARTY!!!111!!!

  11. Honestly, impressive it’s done so well for so long. DLC really gave it longer legs.

I love how much and how big some of these ongoing multiplayer or other games gets, but I always worry that they will fall into the habit that Civ games do, where the next game feels lacking until the first chunk of DLC comes out. Love Splatoon from starting with 2, but playing 3 at launch and being back to 1 kit per weapon feels barebones for a long time, especially if you have a niche weapon or one that has to wait a while for an alt kit. Whatever happens with the sequel with Smash Ultimate has similar shoes to fill, after 89 characters total.

MK9 will be coming after 8 having 96 maps and 50 characters spanning 10 years. With some gameplay changes and additions, what would be the appropriate amount of characters and maps to have at launch following this game to feel worth picking up?

Edit: Grammar. Also, gotta wonder even with MK9, how many maps will just be returning maps as well?

They’ve been milking that bitch for how long now?

  14. Can’t wait for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Definitive Edition as a Switch 2 launch title

  15. ThisButtholeIs2Cold

You can finally rest now Mario kart 8 deluxe

  16. Winter_Control8533

And this is why it’s better to make sequels instead of adding to the same game for a decade. DLC only takes a game so far.

The game has sold a whooping 65 million copies and at $60 each, you know how much revenue it has produced for Nintendo? $3.9 Billion. Yes, BILLION. For a game that probably costs $100 million to develop and distribute. 😎

New Mario kart needs a mode like road rash games.

Call it smash cart mode or something and you do more fighting as you race.

  19. WTF_CAKE

I’ve been meaning to wait a long time for a good discount for Mario kart

  20. Guess it’s time for Mario Kart 8 Deluxer.

  21. Slammybradberrys

It’ll be right back up there, it’s the holidays and it’s got a bundle too, it’ll sell millions more lmao

  22. Galactus1701

I have hope that it’ll return during the holidays.
