I would love to be wrong, but Itoi seems like he’s all about the merchandising nowadays. I sincerely doubt any remaster, port or sequel is being considered.

At this point, I think a full remake of Earthbound or even a completely new game is more likely than a basic Mother 3 translation ever being released officially.
As a fan of Earthbound who hasn’t played the fan translation of Mother 3 yet, I’d love to see any of those happen, but it’s kind of funny that the most requested and probably easiest option for Nintendo of just putting an official translation of Mother 3 on NSO might be the least likely.
