In the 6 years since Satoru Iwata passed away, when you search for his name in Japanese on YouTube, a video mocking him had the highest number of views.

The day after Satoru Iwata passed away, he claimed to have been possessed by Iwata’s ghost and made fun of Iwata’s death.

When searching for “岩田聡” on YouTube, this video remained the most viewed video for 6 years.

Why was this video not deleted?

* Since YouTube is an American platform, the American headquarters has no interest in insulting behavior in Japanese.
* The YouTuber was cunning and avoided Google’s algorithm by not saying anything that directly insulted Iwata.
* The video is the most popular video when searching for that word, and Google’s algorithm may have determined it to be a high-quality video.
* Since he claims to have been possessed by a ghost, deleting the video may be an act of persecution against some religion.

I made efforts to delete this video by reporting it to Google and raising the issue on Japanese forums. But it had no effect at all. I despaired at the lack of influence of the Japanese language and wanted English-speaking people to know about this. This is why I created a Reddit account about three years ago.

However, due to lack of karma or my lack of English skills, even when I posted it on Reddit, it was automatically deleted. I was in despair again. This post has been in my drafts for 3 years.

3 years have passed, and things have changed a little. Several videos appeared that had more views than that video. But the anger and dissatisfaction inside me hasn’t gone away. Please allow me to post this. I hope this post isn’t deleted either.
