I feel ya. I was a single 3-2 set away from 2450. I am now barely above 2200. No matter which team i use, 4 of my 5 battles are at least lead loss-switch loss, if not all 3 completely countered. There's no way it's just a coincidence.
I was rank 2487 and so freaking close to hitting veteran for the first time. Then proceeded to lose 9 of the next 10 matches. Shits so lame because every match was just hard counter to the max while dropping me back to 2393
Eh. I used to believe in the algorithm but I don’t know anymore. I don’t see why it would exist. You can’t expect to win every single battle consistently.

Once I get a 4-1 or a 5-0 a few times in a row, I know I’m about to get fucked.
I know the game keep me at 50%. I am fine with it. I just hate how long it takes for 2 sets. its almost like 2 hour just doing GBL. Rather be outside. Once I do my 500 wins, I stop playing.
They need to change those elite tms to like rank 10 I can’t be bothered to care or maintain mental fortitude to just spam grind 20 every day

I stopped doing pvp instead of complaining about it at this point just my opinion.
I am over some cups. Middle stage evo has not been my friend, nor was hisui cup but catch cup is coming and that should be fun. This game is still fun even though some of the hype died down. Would be nice if GBL matchups were genuine random select. Not algorythmed
I am the same mindset as you, if everyone is being kept at 50% then there is definitely an algorithm out there. I just get to ace and don't bother…not worth my time. I don't like the fact of being forced into a win or given a win….that's not skill that's a 7th place trophy.

Rather play palworld. “Shinies” in that game actually have better stats. Just a better game all around. Less rage inducing

The Algorithm is not real. Metas shift every few hundred ELO points which is why you "suddenly" start seeing a lot of the same Pokemon, because those teams tended to better against the teams in the ELO your particular Pokemon choices kept you in before. Algorithms deliver predictable sets of outcomes. If just 1 battle doesn't match the supposed algorithm's sequence then how could there be an algorithm? Numbers, odds, and matchups play very convincing tricks on your brain. As someone who has been shiny hunting and breeding for IVs since 2004 trust me, random numbers often appear predetermined

I FINALLY reached 2400 elo, for the first time ever and every set after, was literally counter after counter. It definitely does NOT feel “random” it seems VERY intentional. Like I went 5-0, 4-1 , 4-1 , 5-0. Then went 0-5 , 1-4, 1,4, 0-5 , 2-3. I switched teams and got countered instantly. I stopped playing.
So much of the problems gbl has would be fixed if you had team preview, bring in 6 pokemon and pick 3 like it is in official tournaments and VGC
