such a shame it’s just a partner direct. i know the latest rumors indicate switch 2 will come out next year which means they’ll probably reveal in october but i really hope they’re wrong. this year is going to be too dry for my liking if there’s no switch 2 announcement and we keep having only partner directs with only 25 mins worth of games.

Partner Showcases always disappoint me. I want to hear about first-party releases, not games that we probably already know about or ports of games that run better on other systems. I do think it is good for indies to be showcased but it would be better to fold that into a proper Direct which gets more viewers anyway. Oh well, will just read about it afterwards I suppose.

Despite being “partner showcase” I wonder if we can get some good nintendo titles. Maybe more remakes. Links Awakening was developed by Grezzo so….maybe they have been working in other games?
From Zelda franchise, we got some that can just be portated to switch, but apart from those I wonder if they plan/are working on more remasters.
Yall really think Nintendo will release a first party direct for a console that’s already out the door? Save your energy for the Switch 2 Direct.
I honestly almost see this as a good thing. If we had a full direct, with full first party games to be announced for the year, I would take that to mean they are still putting more weight behind the Switch rather than letting it wind down.
We get a partner showcase now to highlight some indies and AA titles that have been in the pipeline for a while. I could maybe even see another partner showcase in a few months. Between former E3 time and the usual big Sept direct I could see the new console reveal, I think with a relatively long run up to launch in order to make sure that they can really hit the promotions and advertising so that nobody has a doubt about what the new console is, or why they should buy it. Let the launch window titles cook a bit longer so it can come out swinging with a new 3d Mario and Metroid Prime 4, plus who knows what else. Maybe a new Zelda already? They’ve done it before, but I highly doubt it lol.

The closer we get to Q1 2025, the less big first-party Switch software we should expect from Nintendo as it gears up to release the Switch successor. I expect Nintendo to lean pretty heavily on third-party support this year, so that has me a bit more excited for this Partner Direct than I would usually be.
Remember to keep your expectations high and complain whenever they don’t 100% give you the exact thing you are asking for because the show should’ve been tailored for you and you alone.
Is it just me or does anyone else think having these Nintendo Directs but no Nintendo kind of defeats the purpose?
