If Nintendo wanted you to forget why do they reference it and allow this on The Nintendo Switch?

Watched a bit of it on YouTube. They absolutely nailed what they were going for, it’s a pity it’s such a niche audience that’ll appreciate it though!

The comment saying the CD-i games are better than Skyward Sword and Phantom Hourglass is certainly a take

as much as i love the youtube poops, thinking about what we could’ve gotten if philips didn’t fumble the bag keeps me up at night. nintendo just asked them to make 6 third party games, giving them *completely free reign* to make whatever games they wanted with whatever IPs they wanted. nintendo was different back then, more loose and relaxed. they put their trust in philips and got shit on for it, and it shocked them so hard that they decided to keep hold of their IP with an iron fist to this day.
we’re only recently seen nintendo dip their toes into third party licensing again with things like cadence of hyrule or some rocket league crossovers. in some alternate timeline we’ve had thirty whole years of awesome games just like cadence of hyrule where all sorts of developers could freely pitch their projects to nintendo and get ahold of a license. but the CD-I was terrible, so we live in the timeline with the funny hotel mario memes instead.
