Sad news. His artwork helped to create some of the most amazing games in history.
🙁
No. 🙁
I grew up a Dragon Ball fan. It was the only animated show my dad would watch with me. Naturally, when I saw Chrono Trigger art in Nintendo Power one month I immediately recognized the art style.
I never did get the chance to play Chrono Trigger, but now I feel like I need to.
Damn. That’s sad. I am a manga fan because of Dragonball. Still one of ,y favorites. I wish only the best to his family and friends. Death is always hard for those who are left behind.
and also illustrator of the more obscure Dragon Ball series fyi
BRO
RIP. Thank you for the amazing memories to last a lifetime. Chrono Trigger is still one of the greatest games of all time.
Oh wow
Even though I’ve never played Dragon Quest or watched Dragon Ball, his art is absolutely iconic. His style is so recognisable that you can look at any of his designs and instantly know that yes, this is Toriyama’s work.
weird to lead with illustrator of the Dragon Quest series. No disrespect to the game series but the guy is the goddamm creator of the most well known manga ever.
Now this is sad.
Man. Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball were my childhood (and Final Fantasy). RIP
This legit ruined my entire night.
Someone gather the Dragon Balls… =(
Legitimately feels like part of my childhood died. So unexpected with how young he was. Some of my fondest memories from when I was young and in school was coming home and turning on the new episode of Dragon Ball Z on Toonami.
RIP to a legend.
Rip thank you for the childhood and adulthood memories
I’m not a manga reader, but like many of you, I worshipped Chrono Trigger the second I laid eyes on it. I grew up in the 90s where many of my high school buddies had DragonBall posters up on the walls, and I was fascinated by this culture. I would later learn just what a monster of a seller, and a cultural touchstone DB and DQ were in Asia, and I just can’t shake the feeling that this man had on Asia, or even the entire world.
Dude was an absolute beast, full of life, love and creativity, and he lived an incredible life. God bless you dude for all your heart, and passion you put into your work. Much love to your family, as they recover from this heartbreaking loss.
He is so much more than that, this man was a living legend who defined one of the most influential anime ever created in the history of the world. Rest in peace.
Very sad to hear. Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z were a huge part of my teenage years. Rest in peace Toriyama.
One of my childhood heroes have ascended to mangaka heaven, 😢😢
May he rest in peace.
His influence was so far and wide.
In early 2000s amine wasn’t that popular in india.
But the one 30 min slot I was allowed to watch tv. I’d save for dragon ball Z.
He also worked on Blue Dragon games which was on Nintendo ds.
RIP legendary artist.
Thanks for Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest, and Chrono Trigger.
