Cool, this guy has wanted to do this movie for a decade I’m sure he’s got ideas

Isn’t our greatest desire to not see a shitty hollywood version if something we love happen?
WEEGEMAN
Not with Arad producing. We can all expect Venom to make an appearance.

I initially was very skeptic of the live action aspect but I remember that there is media that can make it work, like GoT and LotR. LotR was what inspired LoZ so I see why they went with live action.
I just hope Avri Arad doesn’t interfere much. The Spiderverse movies had him and they are still pretty good.

Lol I hope not. Fanfare is boring.

For a series that refuses to stray from cartoon art styles, live action seems like an odd choice

Definitely preferable to the “this isn’t for the fans” or “this won’t be what you think” comments that sometimes come out of show runners for adaptations.
Maybe we can finally get a live action fantasy adaptation that doesn’t end up as great disappointment.

My greatest desire is for there not to be a live action Zelda film.
Anotherspelunker
I misread it as Uwe Boll

Really wish they’d gone with Ghibli.

Whoa, a showrunner that wants to please the fans instead of piss them the fuck off with contempt for the source material? Where’d they find this guy?
G-Kira
So, the films opens with a live action scene of a person turning on a TV and it zooms into an animated Zelda movie and we watch that for a whole time?

What I wanna know is if it’s gonna be an adaptation of one of the games or an entirely new story. I’m hoping for the latter tbh. Less expectations and more creative freedom for the team

So, at least one “well excuuuuuuse me, Princess” confirmed. Got it.

I can’t believe people actually think a Ghibli movie would EVER be in the cards lmfao those take INSANE amounts of time and money, if there’s a studio that won’t do a commission from a videogame company it’s Ghibli. Please let’s be real for a single second, it was always going to be either this or illumination.

I have 0 confidence in Hollywood, but I have confidence in the Japanese overseers that will avoid Hollywood ruining it. The Mario movie and One Peice adaptations were saved by such Japanese oversight.

All depends on how good his planet of the apes film is. That’s a good measurement in size and scope.
Sailen_Rox
Well, for me at least, he already failed the first step because it’s live action ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I’ll try to give it its fair chance I guess, but otherwise idk.

I hope this doesn’t mean what “for the fans” productions seem to nowadays, wherein depth and nuanced storytelling is sacrificed for the sake of pandering fanservice. The Mario film was hollow and empty, only barely kept entertaining by its breakneck pace, and yet I see so many people say they love that film because it had a bunch of references in it. A good adaptation must thread the needle by understanding the appeal of the original work while not stooping to imitation or flattery of it. A good Zelda film must endeavor to be a great film that captures the essence of the series, not simply regurgitating plot points and iconography to give fans a hollow thrill.

Worrying.
Fans generally have the worst ideas for Zelda.

I want to see the world of Hyrule and all of its many creatures and races, brought to life in live action. I’ve never seen that before, it would be interesting to me, it could be, dare I say, *cool*. I mean, they’d have to do it well, obviously. But I just don’t understand the desire to have an animated Zelda movie, and I don’t quite understand why everyone wants that over this… We’ve seen Zelda animated before, hell, most of the games have a style more similar to animation, there’s nothing new there… So why is it so wrong to want to see this universe *brought to life*?
So many other high caliber fantasy franchises have had successful live action adaptations, I want to see Zelda toe to toe with those. I want it to be grand, I want it to be epic, make it great.

I’ve been following Wes’s career since I saw one of his short films at FSU in 2001.
I believe in Wes Ball.

The amount of reassurances is starting to confirm my suspicions that this will not in fact be good.

With Sony producing and it being live action, this is going to be a disaster on a level we’ve never seen in video game films before.

Well excuuuse me, princess!

Guys we finally get to see it.
We finally get to see Korok torture in beautiful realistic live action. I, for one, am hoping that we get to see a Korok crucifixion.
ShatteredMasque
I’m willing to bet 10 bucks that Link will be mute for half of this movie due to some affliction or spell.
