Lear, Rachel and Sawyer are not evil team leaders. Lear is a second rival and the one who created the tournament and is essentially the mean rival. Rachel and Sawyer are his teammates. Paulo is the nice rival but after the tournament he comes into contact with evil team leaders and is essentially persuaded to the dark side. I never finished the evil team storyline though so take that with a grain of salt.
Paulo is actually Hop but even more depressed after his loss against the mc, he tried to find out what he's fighting for by study about other evil organizations. His friend got kidnapped by Ghetsis, even more Ghetsis k.i.l.l his Rockruff which make him going through a John Wick phase, but evil Paulo doesn't last long because he planned to beat Giovanni, erase all the evil by turning himself evil, but his plan failed ultimately.
For Lear, he's the king of Pasio who created the tournament. He's just so cocky that he got talk no Jutsu'd by mc and his friends
