These are the starters I made for my non existent region. I don’t have a region, nor am I really planning on making a region. I made enough fakemons to occupy a region, but let’s be honest they are 70% bug types, and that would not make a good region 😂. But bug is my favorite type, which explains why I have made so many bug types. And of course with bug being my favorite type I had to have a bug type starter. Now, you might be thinking “water/bug really messes with the type triangle effectiveness”, which you would be correct in thinking. Water/bug is neutral to the other 2, and is super effective against the other 2. But don’t worry, this issue resolves when they evolve. Anyway, onto the pokemon.
001- Lemmong(lemming+lemon). I’ll be honest, the lemon in its name dosen’t have much to do with it, I just needed a name and lemming+lemon makes Lemmong. I guess you can say it has something to do with it when it evolves, but eh. I just needed a name, give me a break. It’s a little grass lemming. I tried giving it similar fur patterns to that of a real lemming, but green. I also took a bit of inspiration from hamtaro when designing the face😅. Probably the cutest out of the 3, although idk, I think Swimeek is hella cute as well. Sorry Clopyro, you’re cute, but these 2 have you beat.
004-Clopyro(clop+pyro). This one was probably the hardest to design. It’s a little horse and I never drew a horse before… And it and it’s evolution kind of threw me a curve ball. The entire line made me want to quit midway. But I’m glad I kept going, because the final stage is probably some of my best work ever. But back to this guy, it’s just a tiny fire horse. I didn’t want to make a horse on fire like Ponyta, so I made a horse with a tail resembling smoke. Or is that actually… Nvm. This one is the energetic, fun loving one of the group. It has a lot of energy and a smile on its face. If you’re the kind of person who wakes up and go for a run, might be a good match.
007-Swimeek(swim+meek, and it sounds like swimming). Did I mention I love the bug type yet? I love the bug type so much, I actually went in reverse order when making the starters. I went water, then fire, then grass. And actually, with this one, I designed the final evolution first, then made this little guy, then a middle stage. And I’m glad I did. This guy(like the category says) is based on the giant water bug, or “toe biter” as they are also referred to. This guy doesn’t bite toes though so get that idea out of your head, you creep. Anyway, it’s a little shy bug. It won’t even face you in the art, it’s too shy and scared.
