Oh
Parking-Ad1302
I dont think that instrumental is fitting

I dont hate the music but it feels like a lateral change rather than an improvement.
This game already had an AWESOME soundtrack, I guess Id rather they focused resources in other places.

Why did they stop when it was getting to the good part?
AADPS
It doesn’t sound bad, per se, but it does sound *busy*, which is probably the whole point. The original theme is something that could bring me back to lucidity if I’m ever in the depths of dementia, so I’m very, very particular about it, but it’s not bad. The first few measures with the trumpets feels like it needs another pass of mixing to reign them back.
TheCrach
The lack of 60fps really sticks out, hopefully the mod community can get 60fps for the Switch emulators working.
yamammiwammi
It sounds overproduced. It’s a fitting rendition for something with a little more panache, like maybe a remix for Smash Bros, but for base game there’s a bit too much fanfare.

I’ve liked a lot of the rearranged music I’ve heard so far, but this one is really missing the mark for me unfortunately.

I can’t wait to replay this game 10 more times

Wait a second…. If Paper Mario is made of paper how come he can look both ways & also has a back?

Doesn’t have the same feeling as the original at least this track, and not in a great way. This is a bit too grand and clean for what is supposed to be a messy / funky seaside town

I’ve happy this is getting a re-release, but the new version of the song sounds awful.
MrRibbotron
Glad to see the bizarrely out-of-place gallows and noose is still in the game.

Why does every clip of this game have superbly polished floors? Such a weird artistic choice. Grass, stone, concrete, it doesn’t matter, let’s just make everything reflective

Us: Give us the most popular games onto the switch!
Nintendo: *does that*
Us: oh…ok then yea!

Seems like they boosted the soundtrack a lot here which is maybe why it sounds “off” to some. Factoring in the sound effects while actually playing the game i think this will be a nice fit
MrFiendish
I’m severely tempted, but I have the original GameCube cartridge as well as the WiiU version. Dunno if I can justify full price for a game I’ve purchased twice.

Did they say there will be a way to listen to og gamecube ost or did I dream that up? This isnt bad.. but its not it for me.

Biggest changes I first noticed were that they changed the melody in the strings to some shrill Touhou sounding trumpet. And rock drums with added fills here and there. Definitely not a fan myself. Makes the subdued and darker sound from the original pop too much, in a bad way.
Hopefully they allow you to play with the original soundtrack like in Mario RPG.
Sentinel10
Yeah I think I’m going to be using that GCN music badge.
Music certainly is far from bad, but it’s way too busy and kind of loses the melody of the original.
CheesecakeMilitia
They really have a fade-to-black loading screen transitioning from the back alley to the front of Rogueport now? Kinda sad how many downgrades this remake is settling for.

I absolutely adore the original game’s soundtrack, but I am a bit worried hearing songs like this. This is very grandiose, as if it’s trying to be the musical finale of an arc with its excessive flourishes and instrument swapping. Luckily there’s a way to return to the original soundtrack.

Honestly this game is great and def a week of buy, but it comes out in the same month as Endless Ocean 3, the surprise revival of my favorite game on the Wii. I’m going to be chilling in the ocean and getting a huge dose of nostalgia as I play one of my favorite cozy games, so I might have to wait a little bit before I check out TTYD.
I’m so excited we’re getting two great games in May and if anyone is into cozy games that also are a bit eerie and thalassophobia inducing tru Endless Ocean 3.

Don’t like the higher BPM and the trumpet sounds too cheap, kind of a similar problem to the new Mass Destruction in Persona 3 Reload. Sounds like a badass Mariachi boss fight, just doesn’t fit the city theme
penguinReloaded
I hate that they chose not to do 60fps. The upgraded visuals better absolutely blow my mind. It doesn’t matter; Nintendo Nintendos. I have pre-ordered a physical copy from Gamestop… Nintendo wins. – I look forward to playing the game again. I loved the original upon its release. It’s an amazing game.
