Having just finished the link’s awakening remake, I’m throwing them giving us a link to the past remake out into the universe. Would have to be a different style from LA where it’s more of an epic/sombre game, but my god they could charge full retail for it and I’d buy two copies day 1
Hope there will be a feature for [Trails Through Daybreak](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iryZDkkVVuw). There’s a demo on the eshop and it goes on sale in July. Trails may be a little hard to get into because this is now the 11th game in a series of direct sequels but it’s looking to be a good introduction to the series as well
My only 2 predictions are something Zelda related and something Metroid related. My guesses are remasters of Wind Waker and Prime 2/3.
If I wanted to do a wild card prediction, maybe new Smash Bros DLC? It may sound baseless, but Sakurai just wrapped up filming for his YouTube series, and Nintendo recently took down mods for Ultimate based on Dread Samus, Prime Samus, BOTW Zelda, SM64 Mario, Casino Luigi, and Zelda 2 Link. Maybe we might be getting a DLC Costume Pack to advertise upcoming releases?
That new Dragon ball game will be there but as a cloud/internet only game
Tomadatchi life? 👉👈 (Prob not but we can hope!)
Donkey Kong Countey please and thanks Mr. Nintendo
Does anybody see Donkey Kong showing up? I miss that big ape :'(
I’m betting we’ll get a port, remake or new entry for at least of two of the following three:
F-Zero, Donkey Kong, Starfox.
I think a Mario Party of other Mario spin-off title is likely too.
Mario Party seems like such a lock in my eyes, believe last one was ‘21? We typically see new releases at this frequency
What title is the most strangely not released in any form for Switch yet?
I’m so confused as to why people think this direct will be huge. I’m not judging just honestly curious. I feel like a lot of people are throwing out remasters and other stuff and it’s just taking off regardless of its its true. I feel like we won’t get a ton(though I hope I’m wrong) since this might be the final Switch direct before a Switch 2 announcement.
I think we will get METROID PRIME 4
There’s definitely a lot we could potentially see, just based on various rumors, ratings, and other developments. Going to spoiler tag some things here:
– A Splatoon 3 Final Fest tease seems very likely.
– More games are likely going to be announced for NSO. People caught that the Rare trailer from the Partner Showcase seemed to tease 4 more additions coming later based on the constellation pattern.
– I think it was back in December that some updates to the Pikmin 4 Japanese website included screenshots that couldn’t be properly replicated in-game, suggesting DLC might be coming.
– Of course, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess have been rumored for ages, >!but there’s also potential evidence for a new Grezzo game (Midori/MysticDistance reported on codename “Edward” – in line with the Link’s Awakening remake being “Richard” – while Jon Cartwright said in Good Vibes Gaming’s Direvt predictions video that he’d heard from someone previewing Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD that Grezzo was not working on it as they did for Luigi’s Mansion 1 on 3DS, and PapaGenos, who occasionally has had actual insider info, is implying he’s aware of a new Zelda game that will include a playable Zelda).!<
– Jeff Grubb suggested that >!Nintendo is planning a big marketing push for Metroid a few months back, which may be a good sign for the rumored Prime 2 and 3 rereleases and even Prime 4 coming this year. Retro was also spotted as a client for a company that makes trailers, but I forget what their name is.!<
– A Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War remake has been rumored for years. >!The initial leaks for Engage were accompanied with a statement that it was still happening, and while it’s possible that they were fake – the OP claimed Koei Tecmo and their subsidiary Gust were involved, and that wasn’t the case – Engage’s codename is “Iron19” while Three Houses’s is “Iron17,” signaling a game was skipped.!<
– >!A new Donkey Kong seems especially likely for the holiday season. The rumor’s been that Nintendo EPD Tokyo was working on one, and I’d wager it’s true. Not only did they work on Jungle Beat as their debut project (as EAD Tokyo), but they were hiring for a “2D action game” a few years ago, the DK logo recently had a redesign debut alongside Mario vs. Donkey Kong (in line with what Nintendo’s done for Pikmin lately), and they can time its release so that there’s extra buzz from the opening of the Donkey Kong Country expansion at Super Nintendo World.!<
– Bandai Namco is known to be working on a “3D action game” remaster for Nintendo. There’s nothing especially concrete about what it is beyond that. I’d say the most likely candidate is Kid Icarus Uprising, as Sakurai’s been a bit coy about the game returning while stating in December that he’s been working on his YouTube channel alongside game development. Star Fox Assault doesn’t seem too likely to me despite Namco originally working on it; not only was the reception middling, but Nintendo wasn’t especially satisfied with the game either (I can’t remember where on Wikipedia I came across the quote, but it was from Miyamoto, and he implied they weren’t satisfied with the outsourced F-Zero and Star Fox games in the 2000s – GX is bound to be exempt from that, haha, considering they’ve also said they don’t know how to top what Sega/Amusement Vision accomplished with it). A full remake would make more sense for Assault. There’s maybe a slim chance that it’s Chibi-Robo, as Bandai was originally the publisher of the GameCube original, but that’s also not terribly likely even with how broadly “action” seems to be labeled to these projects. If I remember correctly, the gameplay was completely different and wasn’t coming together, and Nintendo took interest in the project and salvaged it. Probably not something Bandai Namco would return to as a result.
– We could see Pokemon Legends Z-A gameplay for the first time.
I think I’ll leave it at that for first-party, though a new Mario Party might be on the table, and I certainly hope the F-Zero GX Remaster rumors come to fruition.
As for third-party and indie:
– There were >!LinkedIn listings a while back suggesting a new Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games was in development, iirc (SEGA has published most of the games and developed all of them).!<
– The >!Among Us update that may have leaked the Direct date (the 18th) will probably be in a highlight reel – it’s not as big as the one that was the penultimate reveal of the last Direct for some reason.!<
– >!Dragon Quest HD-2D appears to be a lock, with the entire original trilogy now being part of the package.!<
– >!Fantasian is reportedly showing up.!<
– >!The House of the Dead 2 Remake!< was recently rated.
– >!Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition appears to be set for a shadowdrop!<, with PS5 achievements going live a few days ago.
– >!Hi-Fi Rush!< was rated for Switch by PEGI a few months ago >!(no, Tango being shut down doesn’t mean this game can’t still hit a Nintendo platform – ratings tend to mean something is ready/planned for release most of the time).!<
– The Plucky Squire was weirdly MIA from Devolver’s Direct, with more news promised soon; considering director James Turner is an ex-Game Freak developer, a Direct appearance is not at all farfetched.
– >!A Turok game was recently leaked on an equivalent of EpicDB being built by a fan, and I believe at least one of the N64 remasters was a Direct reveal.!<
– >!A fan translation for Mameda no Bakeru was recently DMCA’d by Good-Feel, indicating it’s getting an official localization.!<
– Silksong could be there? Nintendo of Europe recently running a Game Trial for the original is curious, if nothing else.
– At least one farming simulator, of course!
Donkey Kong
Star Fox
F-zero
I would love any of those.
Anything Xenoblade X related outside of having Elma in the FAAAAR background of some monolithsoft promotional art is my biggest hope, but Ik it’ll never happen lol
Fire pro wrestling world for switch….more of a licensing issue than a technical issue kept this game off of the switch
I could see a scenario where we get Metroid Prime 2/3 and then a really brief tease for Prime 4 with just a 2025 date like they did with Breath of the Wild after they revealed Twilight Princess HD. I think Wind Waker and/or Twilight Princess just make a lot of sense. There’s rumours about a 3DS game coming to the console that we haven’t heard about yet, but supposedly isn’t Link Between Worlds so that could be what Grezzo are doing.
I’d be happy with any 1 of the below on Switch:
Pokémon Gen 1 on NSO or Eshop or equivalent.
Luigi’s Mansion 1
Metroid Prime 2
Zelda WW or TP
Metroid Zero Mission on NSO GBA
Smash 64, Banjo Tooie, DKR, Conkur, or DK64 on NSO N64
———-
I expect to be disappointed but hope the above is a wide enough net at least one of those will hit.
– SSX Tricky remaster
– A Zelda remaster
– Fallout 3 on switch..?
– Paperboy remaster…!?
– Final Fantasy Mystic Quest eShop?
– Stardew Valley 1.6+ release
– Switch 2 sneak peak
– New 3d super Mario
– Diablo Immortal on switch
– FF 11 offline or coop mode on switch
I’m just saying things I want now
I’ll be going in with very low expectations.
There’s not much they could release on the very ageing Switch at this point that I’d actually buy, to be honest. I don’t want to see any more huge games on there that should’ve been saved for the next generation either.
I would pick up a new 2D Zelda if they did one, but not a remaster.
I would pick up a Xenogears or Xenosaga remake, but that’s very unlikely.
I would probably buy a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon if they made one, but again, not if it’s a remaster.
I would buy a remake or 3rd game in the old Pokemon Colosseum/XD line – but it would have to step it up, those games sadly didn’t age very well.
If they’re working on a Xenoblade X remaster, I’d prefer it to be on the next system – it really, really deserves better hardware. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch, but I would on the next system.
PLEAAAAAAAAASE TOMODACHI LIFE
I wouldn’t mind a new Donkey Kong
Will dream about all but unlikely I suppose
Metroid Prime 4
MP2 and MP3 re-release
Xenoblade Chronicles X sequel + XCX re-release
Silksong
I”m going to be bold and guess 5 Jrpgs
GIMME DAT SWEET SWEET golden sun
Games will be announced.
Pokemon Snap 3
How confident are you guys that it’s dropping on the 18th?
The hype levels are officially off the charts! 📈
All I want is Metroid prime 4
more farming games on the menu
I keep hearing that this direct is going to be mostly remasters/remakes. What’re the chances that Pokémon black/white remaster are announced then? (if they exist)
I hope they’ll release Zelda OOS and OOAs on the Switch in the style of links awakening 2019
I have been wanting Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD for literal years lmao
Metroid prime 4
Ports of twilight princess and windwaker would be nice, but really hoping for Metroid prime 4 and a fire emblem 4 remake or an English port/remaster.
I’m hoping for Stardew Valley 1.6 news, Twilight Princess remaster, Splatoon lifespan extension, Hi-Fi Rush on switch, and (coping) Silksong news
The showcases before next gen reveals tend to be really sparse. Think about the last Nintendo Direct before the Switch and the last before the Wii U. They were abysmal. Set your expectations rock bottom.
My speculation is the June Direct will be in July
Please nintendo. Just port Tomadachi Life to switch that game is GOATED
If I have to condemn the world to Sticker Star HD or Zip Lash 2 just to get Wind Waker on Switch….
I’m sorry…but so be it.
I need another good Zelda experience on Switch. Haven’t had one since Links Awakening and Skyward Sword HD!
Hope Xenoblade chronicles X finally gets ported, it’s the last one to have the entire series of Xenoblade chronicles on switch
Star Fox
