  1. I feel old enough already without people calling Luigi’s Mansion 2 a “classic”.

Luigi’s mansion was such a great game. Hard to believe it spawned from a tech demo.

I find it weird they didn’t do the OG along with it so now it’s still a fragmented mess of GameCube or 3DS and then into the Switch for 2 and 3.

  4. Is it the same gimmick of finding 5 to 6 items to open the path every mansion? I got really tired of that.

  5. I was NEVER able to get into LM2.

Didn’t like the new cartoony ghost designs and the level mission based structure.

The first LM is still perfect and that deserved more a HD remake.

Remake and remaster is not the same thing people. This isn’t a Remake. It’s a remaster.

    With the differences being:

Are there new gameplay elements? Yes? -> Remake
Are there new gameplay elements? No? -> Remaster

This is just the same game but with updated graphics. But don’t get me wrong if you enjoyed this game and want to keep enjoying it. Go for it. I’m only here to gripe on the word Remake as it’s being used in the title.

    Peace

I can’t look at that game and not think “omg Dark Moon” even though it’s only called that in one country to my knowledge

LM2 was never my favorite of the series. I hated the mission structure compared to the first. But I still enjoyed it. But I couldn’t play LM3 because they didn’t give an option to invert look controls. Really hoping this remake allows that.

    LM2? Classic? Nah.

It fell into the trap a lot of Nintendo games did that gen and shed all the interesting elements that made the previous game so cool in favor of homogenizing it with a very corporate idea of what the main Mario series is. Bland, overbrightened art style. A rigid level structure for a game about exploring mansions. A Saturday Morning Cartoon tone, etc.

Part of what made LM3 so celebrated was that it rolled back basically everything LM2 brought to the table

I had a review copy for this game and my crictism is pretty much

    Overpriced
In the shadow of the superior sequel that came out years ago.
    Not needed.

Good game, bad mobile structure , awful pricing.

    1. No one buys this game because remaster + $60
    2. Short print window since minimal interest / end of switch lifecycle
    3. Becomes nostalgic
    4. Worth $1,000,000 CIB

    I’ll be purchasing 3.5m copies

    ^/uj ^I ^loved ^this ^on ^3DS ^and ^am ^excited ^to ^revisit

Hard pass on this. It’s literally the worst Luigi’s Mansion game and Nintendo wants a full $60 for it. Fuck no.

  14. Can you invert the Y axis in this one? Please…..?!

  15. Extrimland

I love Dark Moon but this shouldn’t be successful. It’s not a “smart, clean, remake”. Its a barely upscaled port with no new content that is selling for more than the Original Game (which is 10 years old now) did at launch

  16. dmrob058

I’m honestly good with Nintendo doing these remakes because they really do have so many past classics that deserve to be played today, BUT I have a massive problem with the prices that they’re charging. $60 is absolutely beyond insane for this, it’s literally more than the original game was and that’s just ridiculous. Maybe if it was like $30 or lower I’d consider buying it but $60 is a slap in the face quite frankly.

It’s such a shame because I do want to play this and Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario TTYD but the asking prices are so absurd and Nintendo practically never puts games on sale so who knows when I’ll get to them.

I wish it would remove the mission style gameplay. I got so tired of going through the front of levels over and over again. It’s just not worth it for me.

  18. Something about the GameCube rendering of the ghosts still looks great today on original hardware.

I’m guessing it’s something to do with the hardware plus CRT but it’s great

  19. Notoriously_So

These games are so good. I really wanted to have all 3 on the Switch.

  20. Roflcrabs

Smart from a business standpoint, lazy from a creative standpoint. Like a third of the Switch’s first party titles are ports of their older games. The Nintendo magic died with Iwata.

I feel like a remake (or remaster, port whatever) of an older game should at least look somewhat close to the sequel on the same console (Which is also 5 years old by now). Especially when demanding the same price.

It’s a shame this basically is just like the upscaled 3DS game, when LM3 proved how good a Switch game can look.

I ain’t paying full price for a basic remaster of a 3ds game I own
