Since you’re new-ish … save up candy to evolve before powering up to use for raids / gym battles / rocket battles / etc
Best way to get 400 candy is walking him as best buddy , or leaving him in a gym (if you want a different buddy) and then feeding him as many berries as you can as often as you can. Think it’s 10 berries every hour. There’s a small chance you get one candy from every berry you feed him.
If you primarily walk him then look into how to get him excited because that will help a lot.

That’s an awesome first shiny! Congrats. And I second the others to look out for community days, you’ll get a bunch of mons and you’re almost guaranteed to get shinies and good stat mons

I would 100% just because it’d be my first shiny too but hey that’s just me, my first was a shiny feebas and now it’s my favourite out of everyone and he’ll always be my best buddy :”)
