This sounds like when studios used to make weaker versions for the Wii.

  2. shrek3onDVDandBluray

Has nothing to do with more money.

  3. loveboobas

poor excuse when theres dozen of these lego things on all consoles

    >Xbox excluded to “Push Hardware Limits” on PS5

It’s… a Lego game. How has porting these games with a well scaled graphical fidelity got so bad?

I got the Skywalker Saga on Switch and it’s kind of amazing how such a rudimentary game visually still gets the vaseline vision smearyness that is the signature of sloppy porting.

Now I say all this without believing at all its hardware limitations preventing a release on Xbox, it’s just a bit of a joke that a Lego game has the ambition to max out the power of the PS5. That’s overkill imo.

Maybe it’s a shot at the Series S? Wasn’t Baldurs Gate 3 delayed for Microsoft specifically because of the limitations for that console?

Not saying any Lego is that demanding.

We actually have no idea if the Sony rep said they were trying to “push the limits” on the PS5 or if they were still talking about the Switch and basically saying they’re putting the resources for the switch port first and foremost.

This article is poorly written and the source is behind a paywall.

Edit: another commenter checked the original interview, they were talking about the Switch, the headline is bogus.

I think it funny how Sony takes shots across the bow at Microsoft, Microsoft is the kid who just wants to fit in with everyone, and Nintendo is the cool kid everyone wants to be friends with.

  8. theshoupguy

Is LEGO Horizon Adventures supposed to be the LEGO version of Horizon Zero Dawn?

  9. BioPsychoSocial0

Most people on Xbox only use game pass and Sony obviously won’t put this game on there which is probably the main reason.

  10. BebeFanMasterJ

You want your IPs to reach family friendly audiences? Put Sly Cooper on Switch then. Not like you’re doing much with the series otherwise.

  11. Abba_Fiskbullar

This is obviously because games don’t sell well on Xbox. Games sell well on Switch, and it has a huge install base. Why would they spend money developing a third version of the game when all of their efforts can go to making the Switch version as good as possible?

  12. AleroRatking

Without it going to Gamepass I’d be shocked if the sales are there to put it on XBox anyway

And there is no way SONY puts it on Gamepass.

  13. RingWonderful8734

Only thing I can think of is that less people buy full games on Xbox and instead just go with the subscription to gamepass

  14. Jiggaboy95

We know the real answer but if they just came outright and said “Lol fuck Xbox we don’t give a shit about them” then everyone would be up in arms.

This is the age of ‘friendly competition’ unlike years past where companies would directly shit on each other(what Nintendon’t for example) we have to endure all the fake politeness.

  15. Lupinthrope

Probably gonna grab this on my steam deck, but the Xbox excuse is just BS lol

  16. hopsmonkey

Obviously companies can do what they want with their own IPs, but it’s especially sad for Xbox Series X fans who enjoy that this console can play almost every LEGO game, including lots of backward compatible ones with awesome FPS Boost and/or visual enhancements. Series X is a real LEGO game beast.

  17. MReprogle

Smart move. Get a new audience to enjoy the franchise, then they might grab a ps5 to play. I don’t know why some fanboys get so flipped out about having an exclusive jumping to another console. I pretty much play exclusively on Sony platforms, but would think it was cool to have those games everywhere with cross save.

  18. verpin_zal

That‘s rich coming from Sony after the disaster called Skywalker Saga on PS5. Don‘t push those hardware limits too much, Sony.

  19. Better headline: Xbox excluded because Sony are assholes.

  20. Shadow_Strike99

This feels more like Lego strong arming Playstation just like MLB did with MLB the show making it multiplatform, and because Playstation will never put a game on their direct competitor in Xbox in the home console space. Especially since Xbox has gotten alot of polarizing optics and alot of chaos in their goodwill and outlook from porting their games to Playstation and switch. And the only reason why MLB the show is on Xbox is because it’s obviously not an original ip they own like Horizon.

    Just corporate pr speak.

Lego just like MLB isn’t some small game studio you can push around or just shut up with money, Lego is a big dog in the yard. They weren’t going to agree to do this partnership if the game didn’t get a switch port and weren’t going to do the whole 2 years later pc port.

  21. atatassault47

Sony, you dont need to BS us. You dont want it on Xbox, and Lego refuses to make an exclusive game, so you both agreed to “every platform but Xbox”.

  22. Pro_Banana

Why is everyone so angry lol

Of course these are excuses. Real reasons are the obvious ones that we all already know. This is just business as usual.

  23. I’m pretty sure SONY didn’t even want it on the Switch, but because the Switch has such a huge install base, there was no way LEGO would agree to be a PlayStation exclusive. There is too much potential profit to be lost. Xbox has too small of a market share — they even stopped reporting sales numbers (or did they start reporting again with the Series X/S?).

Also, everyone seems to be reading “this hardware” to mean the PS5 (because that is how the author wrote this story) but I read this as meaning they were trying to push the Switch hardware as much as they could.

  24. If Sony was smart, they would put Sly, Jak and Ratchet on Nintendo platforms. They could even release them some years after the PS release

  25. Yet the Switch’s hundreds of hentai-themed games don’t translate to “family friendly audience”

  26. switcheavy

Its bs and I think its because of LEGO wanted it on Nintendo Switch.

  27. Yakkahboo

So Sony were strong armed into releasing on switch by LEGO but still want to tell Xbox gamers to fuck themselves.

  28. badwolfswift

I don’t think the Switch could handle Horizon.

  29. Swarzsinne

Where did they say they’re trying to “push hardware limits” on PS5? Because the article is pretty clear they’re pushing the limits of the Switch.

  30. I want to know if we’re getting a collectors edition that will be Legos.
