Home Console. It has yet to surpass Gameboy.

  2. Darknety

If only the Joy Con would last as long 🙂

My battery life begs to differ. But hey it’s still working

  4. I guess the Switch is only considered a home console when it fits one’s narrative.

  5. whatsupbrosky

Well yeah if they dont make another one

I have to constantly remind myself that 91-95 was snes, 96-00 was n64, and 01-05 was gc. (numbers are probably wrong but it’s that ballpark usually)

Nintendo consoles never last more than like 6 years tops. Usually they hover around 4-5. Like, that’s not a very long time between hella hardware upgrades.

I’m really hoping they’re just doing a switch 2. Backwards compatible, keeps your eshop purchases from switch 1. That’s literally it. It’s so simple, and yet I fear they can’t even achieve that.

My still functioning NES would like a word

Coming in on Bruno Sammartino’s record next.

I wonder if steam deck will shatter longest handheld in the future or will they start creating newer generations?

I purchased the Nintendo Online Expansion Pack on my Switch Lite two days ago because I didn’t realize it had all these old school games from my childhood. So many games I want to go through. I ran through Super Mario Bros in one day moved on to Punch-out! The nostalgia is straight to my dome. $50 to easily play most of the old Zelda and Mario games is worth the money. Switch has been an excellent console in many areas. Can’t wait to play Golden Sun again since it first came out.

It has more to do with the global supply chain issues and the sole manufacturer of video game consoles (China) having its own economic slowdown. Japan is also suffering from outsourcing all manufacturing to China. It’s why the next console launch is going to be a huge clusterfuck despite the promises Nintendo makes.

My working 8-bit NES would like to have a word….

    *Without a successor*

This article is straight up lying, the Famicom lasted longer, but it had a successor released during it’s lifetime.

  14. This is only true if you limit it to single markets. Globally the Famicom launched in July of 1983 and wasn’t fully superseded until the SNES launched in Australia 9 years later. The global video game market was very weird and fractured in the 8 and 16 bit eras.

  15. Oldgun80

“Super Nintendo Switch” would sound very appealing.

  16. RhoadsOfRock

Somebody isn’t familiar with the Famicom (lasted from 1983 until 2003).

Of only The controllers would be usable for more than 2 years, that would be neat

Did we break the famicom to
    Super famicom days?

  19. Radbot13

I feel like it’s the Nintendo console I’ve bought the least amount of games for

  20. gulag_hater

And it shows. I cannot trust it to even run indie games well anymore.

I tried to play Tunic on the Switch and it runs and looks really bad. Worst part is I couldn’t return it.

  21. Visible_Ad9513

Don’t remind them. I’m already backed up 2 generations.

  22. Professional-Act3145

I think the switch 2 will probably, like the Wii U, use the same controllers from its predecessor. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the pro controller or joy cons.

Imagine it’s called the Switch U. Lol. See how that goes over with the mainstream crowd LOL.

  23. Der_Neuer

The ball is on their side of the court. But since Nintendo is the Schizophrenic uncle of the games industry, we never know what they’ll do. Will it be a WiiU? Or will it be a SNES. I’m excited to find out either way
