Nintendo

I’m honestly glad Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is removing glitches during competitions.

For those who don’t know, here’s the Source showing so.

Note that this game is called Nintendo World Championships for a reason, and is focused on that, not the general speed-running community, which people seem to compare to for some reason.

So, for example, if this was taking place in-person you’d be sure they’d ban glitches there too.

This game is marketed mostly towards speed-runners, but still welcome for anyone to participate in. The average consumer wouldn’t be able to do frame-perfect glitches that pro speed-runners learned somewhere else online. They want casual players to actually feel like they’ve entered a competition in real-time, and how they could actually have a chance to win simply by going as fast as possible, not worrying about anything else.

I hate that this even needs to be said, but tons of people hated this decision anyway.
