The writing has been on the wall for a while but that’s still unfortunate news.

  2. porkchop_d_clown

I mean, I haven’t read it in years, but so many memories.

  3. mystical_ninja

Damn I just signed up for a two year subscription for my daughter.

  4. Dry_Ass_P-word

Dang that’s sad. Another part of many childhoods disappearing.

  5. Man I used to love getting these in the mail as a kid. The cover art was so cool sometimes.

  6. hobbitfeet22

Well this is disheartening. I still get one every month and love looking at them

  7. illegalshidder

No way, what about The Gameinformer Show? They’re my favorite gaming podcast

  8. Man I grew up with game informer. Very understandable in this day and age, but certainly sad nonetheless. Thanks for the memories, GI. o7

Really sad the way game magazines (and magazines in general) have gone.

All these years later, and I’m still sad about Nintendo Power closing up. I’d love to have that magazine back.

  10. Isn’t this magazine owned by GameStop? Seems like they’re trying to cut costs in a lot of places

  11. memeaste

I used to love getting their magazines in the mail from GameStop every month

  12. Robby_Bortles

Well, at least this month’s EGM should arrive in my mailbox any day now!

  13. KNIGHTFALLx

That time I renewed my gamestop pro subscription just for the print magazine and they purposefully and unbeknownst to me changed it to a digital magazine subscription. Fuck you gamestop.

  14. phareous

What the hell I just resubscribed because they kept sending me offers

  15. I read so many of these over the years while taking a poo. Longest poo of my life.

  16. No_Dig903

Welp, GameStop Pro goes down in value AGAIN.

  17. jankarlothegreat

Were they not getting any subscribers or something? Why did they stop? I still loved getting these. It was my only reason in the past for getting powerup membership from GS

Used to have a sub through GameStop but have just been getting individual issues that I liked lately, like Mario Wonder, Sonic Superstars and Frontiers.

I did like the fact that, if I so desired, a digital sub could get me access to every issue in the back catalogue. Only used it a handful of times to actually look at other issues but it was cool knowing I had the option.

Finally. I keep telling people there’s nothing more dangerous than an informed gamer. Maybe now we can have some peace of mind in the world.

I’ve gone on Game Informer’s website a couple times a week for at least twenty years. This is a bummer. A couple of my favorite internet Things ever came from Game Informer’s Super Replay series. The Overblood super replay was SO fun, and it created a Facebook community that I’m still on all these years later.

I just went to the website and it’s literally just this screen. I really hope their stuff gets archived somewhere, because otherwise it’s a massive loss.

    But kotaku still lives… That’s a shame

  22. PikaPerfect

i understand why, given i used to read that magazine obsessively, but stopped a few years ago because i could get the exact same news online, but that’s still sad to hear

rip game informer, you were a real one for 10 – 19 year old me 😔

  23. MundaneBaseball3

In 50 years my need to collect them will be worth something.

  24. Pakmanjosh

No surprise given how much we’re moving away from physical media as a whole but damn that’s still a bummer. I remember getting super excited everytime E3 happened and Gameinformer would print a huge fancy issue for the event.

  25. Swyfttrakk

Surprised it lasted this long. I thought they faded shortly after EGM’s reboot failed

  26. Immediate_Island_474

Didn’t even know they still made these

  27. TheShweeb

This looks to have been an incredibly sudden decision. [According to Kotaku](https://kotaku.com/game-informer-gamestop-meme-stock-gme-last-issue-1851611973) everyone on staff (except for one writer who is *actively on a work trip*) was first informed of the closing in an HR meeting *this morning*, work on the intended next issue was progressing normally, and the website is already completely shuttered with all links dead. Bizarre and upsetting situation.

  28. Killahdanks1

Oh no. As a Minnesotan who used to manage a GameStop back in 2000 I knew Andy and Reiner all of those guys. Game Informer was awesome. Thanks guys.

  29. JuliaTheInsaneKid

It’s sad that gaming magazines are on their way out.

  30. soivebeentold

Guess I should have taken upselling those subscriptions more seriously at Funcoland in the 90s

  31. What a great run. I first received Game Informer as a free subscription in 1992-1993 when Funco was still doing game trade-ins via USPS…before the Funcoland stores even existed.

  32. Reciprocitus

Feel like the end of an era, honestly.

Diehard Gamefan, EGM, Official Playstation Magazine, Nintendo Power, and now Game Informer.

We’ve lost so many good gaming ‘zines over the years.

  33. MattofCatbell

I can’t say that I wasn’t expecting it but I’m still broken by the news. Game Informer was probably one of my favorite sources for video game info and interviews.

  34. Go_Ninja_Go_Ninja_Go

Aww there goes my chances of getting into the GI spy photos at the beginning of the magazine.
