The best, so … there will be a microphone again? 🙂

I was going to pick up one of Super Mario Party or Mario Party Superstars, but I thought I’d hold out to see how this ends up. Ideally, I want the one with the best online multiplayer, since I won’t always get to play the game with friends.

So mostly from MP1-8, Superstars, some from Super Mario Party and **none** from MP9 and the Wii U/3DS hopefully.

That’s what each iteration of Mario Party was supposed to do. Unfortunately, each iteration never took the best of its precedessors and always added the bare minimum. There are 25 years of games for them to pull from – all they had to do was hire a bunch of artists to port the collection. Instead, as always, we’ll get a handful of boards and a non-functional online multiplayer.

Seems like there’s probably more button based mini games than motion control ones. It’s confirmed that online prevents joycon mini games from appearing so maybe this means we can play it handheld mode.

  6. Can they just add like 8 player local mario party? Thats all i want

This looks so good. Sadly looks like custom dice aren’t returning, but it seems like Allies are? Some of these new mini games look really clever

Never met a MP I didn’t like as now being an adult I realize that it’s not *for me* to enjoy as much as a child/teen…but for my child to enjoy as much as when I was a child/teen.

Only five boards? WELL, my kid loves to play 3 of ’em and rarely complains, so it’s well worth the money, right?

If this one is more catered for us adults I’ll be happy. If it’s still more for the children and casuals…I’ll still be happy

  9. My problem with these games is that you need 4 players in the room to really enjoy it. Why are there no two-players mini games?

Third mario party on the switch. I feel snubbed for buying the first when the next two seem way better 🥲🥲

I’m just looking for AI only mode. Those were really fun and I was disappointed that it never returned… story mode without motion controls would be nice, but I’m not sure if that will make a return either…

But is it faster? These games and how slow the dialogue is and how long it takes for everyone to ‘ready up’ each round make my hair fallout.

I just want to know if hexes are back for every board/game mode. I hated it so much on DS. I truly hope we can disable it.

  14. StevenEpix

Well, there’s seven boards so that’s a huge improvement in and of itself.

Now can we make an online level system that doesn’t top out after like 10 plays like Superstars did.

  15. NES_Classical_Music

Ideally, this is what every Mario Party game should do.

  16. BlunderFunk

You mean makes the bare minimum so they can charge for another one in 1 and a half year later

  17. gcocco316

Looks like I’m buying this and eow with game vouchers

After Super Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars, I’m not being tricked into a 3rd Switch Mario Party game.

  19. Walink92

I just want an option to toggle the lucky spaces off

  20. jgreg728

Superstars was good, but how they thought Super Mario Party was good enough for release will forever baffle my mind. Purely a lazy lazy lowest effort possible MP game.

  21. This is the exact same review for all Mario parties

  22. Czeckplease

Does anybody know if they are bringing back character dice?

  23. Sad-Primary-1996

Me and my friends loveee mario party and they always ask to play. Everything ive seen looks good so i am really looking forward to this one!! I am happy theres more plyers to choose from since superstars didnt have as many options

  24. Diligent_Street622

I’m sure it’ll be great but I’m kinda salty they basically released two other fully priced Mario games that lacked a lot if basic features and then do one that has some good features rather than update the other games but I’m glad that this one looks promising. Hopefully fans will get what they want.

  25. I’ll be happy as long as they don’t flood me with coins. Really disliked Super Mario Party because of how easy it is to get a lot of coins in that game.

It’s interesting to hear this is looking good. I’ve been a Mario Party fan since the N64 days, but I felt incredibly disappointed by the previous two offerings on the Switch for a variety of reasons. I’ll keep my eye on this but I don’t think I don’t want to be burned again 😅.

  27. overstuffeddumpling

I wish there was a mario party had customizable maps like mario maker

  28. fishbioman

I’m just hoping a decent amount of the mini games can be played with the pro controller

  29. FallenRaptor

It looks great on all counts. Fingers crossed that it’s as polished a product as it looks in the trailers. It does look to address all the problems people have with previous Switch entries, and is shaping up to potentially give the old Hudsonsoft titles a run for their coins.

I can think of a couple ways off the top of my head that the 4x dice in particular might break the game if things aren’t properly balanced, so hopefully every element is properly thought out and implemented. Everything I’ve seen so far looks great though, knock on wood, so I really hope this last Switch Mario Party is everything we’ve been wanting in a Switch Mario Party, which it certainly looks to be.

PLEASE Don’t abandon this Nintendo, add dlc and make it last!

I haven’t been able to determine if 2v2 is back or not. My wife and I like playing against the NPC’s on hardest difficulty and I was sad that it wasn’t in super stars.
