Why not use gen 1 Pokemon? We have:
Pokeball with eyes, rock with eyes (and arms), pile of generic sludge with eyes, two different flavors of evolution=”now there are three of them!”, etc.
Why not use gen 4 Pokemon? We have:
Big ugly cat, Delelelewhooooooop, bee that is useless 87.5% of the time, Playboy Bunny, Lickilicky…
Every generation has dumb/silly/overly simple Pokemon designs, gen 5 isn’t unique in that regard.
