“Hard to find” doesn’t mean anything about retiring. It just means the set has limited retail distribution, and applies to sets the day they are released.

Why did you leave UK out of the title…?

The NES set is awesome, but not worth anywhere near what they charge.
Got a very good Chinese imitation and it looks awesome.

Have the NES set. Agree that it’s overpriced, but very cool. Turned it into an alarm clock by attaching a dc motor setup

Something to remember the NES Set was cheaper at release.

I knew all the Donkey Kong sets would be discontinued. I don’t live in the UK but here in the US I would always see a ton of unsold stock sitting on shelves and they would be on clearance or marked down compared to the Mario sets.
Such a shame that Nintendo has let the DK IP fall from grace as hard as it has. If this was the 90’s those LEGO sets would be flying off store shelves but unfortunately we live in the 2020’s where DK can’t even get a brand new game after a decade without one. Makes me really curious to see how the DK Theme Park performs at Universal because part of me feels it’s not going to do as great as Universal/Nintendo are hoping…but would love to be wrong obviously. I just don’t think most Nintendo fans and most certainly the younger ones care about the DK franchise nowadays…
