Atleast you can train on catching regular galarian birds when the shiny pops up. Even though it has an absurdly low catch rate, you can actually train to get excellent throws
Same with me. Just yesterday, I was nervous and excited when a shiny Zapdos showed up. My heart beat at that time!!! Haha!

I'm wondering what the shiny encounter rates are for these birds? I've use close to 1,000 dialga candies, encounter just over 20… no shiny! Also, haven't caught any of them.

That is a little ridiculous that Niantic made it ridiculous to catch after golden raspberries & ultra balls. Should be a normal type catch.

Shiny G Moltres was also my first bird and like you it was cold + new phone (where I need to "relearn" throws). Eventually got it after using ca a hundred Ultra balls + golden razs.
