That means that there will be an announcement between November, 2024 and March, 2025.
Nintendo has announced it will be backwards compatible with the Switch's software.
Please keep all questions, discussion and speculation of the next Nintendo console confined to this megathread. All threads about this topic will be removed and redirected to this thread.
Please note that nothing is verified about the next Nintendo console except for the fact that it will be announced during this fiscal year. All information about its specs, name, etc. are just speculation and/or wishful thinking.
Thank you.

I just can’t anymore. I hate this waiting so much
At least we know it is backwards compatible
At this point I’ve lost interest unless it launches with Super Mario 64K Galaxyshineworld Land
I need it to also play PS4 and PS5 games now cuz my disc drive stopped working
A new unspecified console is so exciting. I like this long game Nintendo is playing, instead of rushing all the news to us. Look at all the fantastic things they’ve given us INSTEAD of new console info: Nintendo Music, Alarmo, a host of remasters!
I know Nintendo is probably not going to do this, but if the next console could have a virtual console for Wii/Wii U games that would be cool.
The aesthetic and structural design of the console needs an upgrade. The way it wobbles in the dock, the awkward placement of the ports, the fact it can fall over so easily (compared to say a GameCube). And trying to use the SD card slot for the first time recently, it blew my mind how hidden it was. I’m hoping they improve the ergonomics overall.
I think we’re going to have a brand new 3D Mario as the launch title. The main 3D Mario team hasn’t worked on anything since Bowser’s Fury from the 3D world remaster. And I doubt they used all their time and resources just for that so it’s likely they’ve been working on a game for a while now.

I was hoping they would confirm the reveal trailer month at the very least in the FY meeting.
I think the reveal is going to happen in February. Just a gut feeling.
Will it play games?
I’m expecting 2025 to be another blowout year for first-party games to make sure this launch goes over well. They seem kind of anxious about making sure they don’t lose momentum from Switch 1’s stellar success so hopefully they have a lot of good quality games to release.
How are we going to afford one, with the 500% Tariff that it will have. If this isn’t released before January 20th we won’t be able to afford it. No way Nintendo eats the Tariff.
I know the Nintendo’s console gimmicks have been hit-or-miss, but I would love to see them add yet another weird gimmick to Switch 2 to make it stand out more from the Switch.
I also know 3D on the 3DS was headache-inducing for many people (even I struggled with it sometimes, even on the New 3DS). But I still loved it, and if Nintendo brought back 3D to the Switch 2 portable mode I would probably switch to (pun not intended lol) play in portable mode most of the time. That being said I doubt it will happen.
It’s weird that Furukawa had specifically stated that they think the Switch 2’s presence wouldn’t affect holiday sales. so why not just…reveal it now then?
Its a long shot but I still think it will have some multiscreen functionality.
People call me crazy but I really do think that is what nintendo will do to make EVERY game that has ever existed on a nintendo console possible on their next.
You heard it here first:
November reveal, May release
Still hoping Oblivion remaster is a launch title
My Switch 2 Wishlist:
* Has analog triggers
* The Mii maker isn’t hidden in the settings
* Menu has more personality
* etc
What do u think about sequel being the smartphone?
Nintendo phone! With all games from Nswitch
Yay I’m glad it will be backward compatible it will be playable on computer in the first couple months on emulators oh ya that’s right emulation is dead on switch. Or is it lol seems like everyone thinks emulators just stop working when the creators stops by stoping or being forced to stop ya that how computer programs work they just disappeared off you computer lol k well time to load up Ryujinx later
I really hope the play time tracking bug between consoles is fixed with Switch 2
I’m not sure how many people have experienced it but if you play 20 hours of a game on a Switch, then for whatever reason you get a new Switch (joycon drift or just upgrading models), the games play time won’t be updated until you exceed the old play time on your old Switch. Making it seem like you’ve played only 25 hours when it’s really 45.
Not so bad on that example but games where you have 100s of hours played it’s really frustrating knowing you’ll never see a play time increase until you play another 100+ hours, then even when you do get the play time to catch up it’ll always be 100+ hours behind what it should be.
Of course not everyone cares about play time this much but I really do like seeing how much time I’ve invested in my favourite games and I’m not going to play my current switch games on a new system if play time won’t be tracked, unless of course there’s a huge upgrade in performance to make up for it.
