Interestingly that is the exact amount of space a 400GB card has. So possibly a 400GB card got out of place at the factory level and mislabelled?

Since it should be 461GB’ish for a 512 since memory card listings are weird.

That card appears to be fake. Probably trying to pass as an actual 400GB card. It won’t even be that capacity.

You SD card is most likely a counterfeit knock off and might not even be 366GB. If you look at the “512” on your memory card vs the official listing the font is noticably different. Look at the 1 in the 512. Yours has a line on the bottom of the 1 while the official one does not.

You need to be careful with your data if you use this card. Memory card scammers modify a low capacity SD card to falsely report that it has a bigger size, but then when you go to save data that’s bigger than the card the data will be lost or corrupt the existing data.

Please try to return this card. Since it was a gift I would politely let the person who bought it for you know that it’s a knock off and doesn’t work as advertised

You either got a counterfeit or a defective card. I wouldn’t trust it with any save data. I would see if whoever gifted it to you might be able to exchange it for a replacement.

Like others said, your card seems fake. Sorry buddy, but see if you have any chance of a refund and go to a different store to get a new SD card.

  6. Like others are saying, it’s either defective or fake. While it’s normal for SD cards of that size to have around 498 GB available, 366 GB isn’t normal. I’d kindly let the person know who gave it to you so it can be exchanged or refunded.

Even if you chose to use it, defective and fake SD cards will fail within a month max.

Immediately move all important data off that sd card back into your system memory. It’s likely not actually the capacity it says as well, and once you reach the real capacity limit it’ll break and you’ll lose all data on it. (assuming it’s fake)

When she returns it, I’d recommend getting a silicone power “superior” (the actual line name) 512. Only 27$ and you’ll never see the art on the SD anyways.

I got the 1TB and it works great.

  9. Karma0617

Probably a fake card. If not that asterisk is massive

  10. gangweeder

To add to this, if you return it, go to Walmart or wherever and by a NON-LICENSED card, you are literally paying extra money just for the Nintendo logo.

  11. Scam SD cards are very common, that’s why I haven’t ordered one. Best to prob get one from a local store if you haven’t already

  12. DoggoLover42

You do realize any microSD memory card will work for the switch. They upcharge way too much for putting Nintendo branding on it

  13. Lennnnyyyyyyyy

My man bought it from Jolly Redd 💀

  14. PhantomSesay

Looks like a fake, the 512 font is too big

  15. CharityCompetitive79

    walmart onn brand 512 $39.99

  16. lyta_hall

If you compare the real packaging of the product with this you can see there are font weights that don’t match, and other elements are off too. Fake

  17. Horror-Indication-92

Is this an unnecessary overpriced SD card which knows nothing more than a regular SD card?

  18. mymumsaradiator

You have acquired a fake sd card :/ they are sadly really common on amazon , when buying them make sure to have get them off a reputable seller or at a store directly.

  19. NonEuclidianMeatloaf

Sorry OP, you got a counterfeit card. The print on the card itself doesn’t even fit properly. If you can return it, do so.

  20. Antique-Internal5728

Card is fake but u can just tell from the packaging the way the fonts are and look at the can be used for Nintendo switch lite it’s all off centre. From The packaging you should have just left it. Get a refund

  21. Omega_Maximum

It’s a fake card. Looking at the font on the card itself, it doesn’t match the official one. Official card doesn’t use a numerical font that has a 1 with a line at the bottom. Rather elaborate fake…

  22. Pray so that it even has that capacity. A long time ago I bought some 64GB micros and yes, it said there was 60GB of free memory, but the metadata was modified. It only could hold about 8GB and after that it started overriding data.

  23. Gentle22128

The best way to check if this is a fake sd card is to plug it into a computer and use a program called validrive. If every block is green it’s real, if any blocks at all are red it’s fake. It will tell you its actual size too. If it does appear to be real I’d check the partitions and make sure the whole card is being used.

  24. Hey man pls don’t waste money on nintendo sd card

  25. PalpitationGeneral56

Tom nook would do something like that wouldn’t he?

  26. piefanart

Packaging looks wrong. Fonts are off. I think it’s a bootleg.

  27. mikieika

Did you by chance purchase it at a tiny shady tug boat with a fox in it?

  28. atatassault47

Because storage manufacturers measure in Decimal not Binary. 512 GigaBytes < 512 GibiBytes. There’s also formatting overhead that chews up space as well.

  29. ArisenBahamut

Bro there’s an asterisk beside the “512 GB” on the top right. That definitely means it was never going to be 512 GB

  30. CelestaKiritani

lol, it’s a fake knockoff SD Card. The font is weird in the packaging and the SD Card has a weird design.

  31. KRTrueBrave

while storage devices pretty much always have some sort of loss (like 6tb drives can have up to 500gb less and still be in valid range)

a 512 with just 366 is not usual at all and very fishy
