Dark display following screen repair

So my nephew decided it was a good idea to hit his brother's switch lite screen with a mini stick. Obviously the screen stopped working.

I attempted to fix the screen but you'll see in the image that once the screen was repaired, the display was noticeably darker and much darker on the left side.

I was wondering if anyone has encountered this issue. Could it be related to the backlight pins or other pins that could have been damaged? Could it be a different issues and even possible to diagnose?
