I don’t think anyone’s denying it’s a bad game — it’s just overpriced. It’s like something that should be a Nintendo Selects out of the gate. My local GameStop still has the 3DS version for $15 (albeit pre-owned).

  2. Blofeld69

I love it when Alex from Nintendo life is harsh.

  3. wildkiller65

I just wish both dkcr games let you play coop the way dkc1 to 3 did… taking turns. It’s too chaotic otherwise imo

  4. TheBatSignal

I think the only reason the price doesn’t bother me as much as other people is I really only paid $45 for it by getting a $100 Nintendo card at Costco for only $90 and then doing the two game vouchers thing

  5. ChestnutIceCream

Overpriced this, used copy of 3DS port for $15 that

Most now-10 year olds (the actual Nintendo Switch Family of Systems demographic) have not played this game, and now they can in perpetuity

It’s not that difficult to under$tand, people

  6. Provick

I never got to play this game so I’m looking forward to getting it! My preorder came with a pen holder as well.

  7. jgreg728

What needs to be reviewed? It’s the third time it’s being released lol.

  8. MMuller87

The reviews would have been much kinder if the game costed 40$

  9. Mistah_K88

More power to those that are buying it. For an example of how I feel about the pricing… I love Super Mario World, but if they ported Super Mario Advance 2 and charged $60 for it in 2025 I’d pass.

  10. WhiskeyRadio

I’ll eventually buy this because I like the games and enjoyed this on Wii but $50….. I’ll keep an eye out for a deal before I pick it up.

  11. DigitalGumby

I hope the reviews don’t turn off new fans. This game is incredible, but the sequel is even better. Looking forward to playing this again!

Just like the Mario vs. DK remake last February, I’m not paying full price for this. Maybe if it goes down to $40 or less somewhere I’d be willing to pay for this game again. I originally got it for $30 in 2013 when Nintendo had already decreased its price shortly before the 3DS version released. But I sure won’t buy it anytime soon.

  13. Asad_Farooqui

Looks like it’s basically exactly what everyone expected. And that lack of surprise is admittedly a mild disappointment to me.

  14. What’s with those guys defending Nintendo’s pricing? Everything alright at home?

  15. Justapersonmaybe

I got a review copy. It’s better than the 3ds version but not worth more than $49

  16. WolfWomb

Donkey Kong Country games should not be a big string of set pieces on every level.

    Otherwise, they’re Rayman games.

  17. CDHmajora

Bought this on 3DS from CEX for under £10 about 2 months ago, and while it’s not the BEST way to play, it’s certainly serviceable for that price 🙂

This game will have to do FAR more than just smooth out the Wii era textures to justify the price imo. I’ve already been burned by paying £40 for Luigi’s mansion 2 on the switch, I ain’t risking it again.

  18. narfjono

    $30-40, then we’ll discuss purchasing.

  19. Ah-ashenone

Donkey Kong without RARE just hasn’t hit the same.

  20. Leblannc

I ain’t never gonna stop playing donkey Kong Tony !

  21. Cosmicginger

It’s worth the price to me. One of my favorite games of all time, and I prefer it over Tropical Freeze.

  22. jester1390

Can anyone answer if this game has dpad movement still want to play it on my arcade but cant find confirmation it does online anywhere

  23. TheShweeb

It’s still really good. Next question

  24. Avelion2

The only way I justified buying it is that i’ve never played it before so im treating it like a new game.

  25. SirDanOfCamelot

Did they fix the missing graphics and effects?

  26. j0rdan21

    I’d get it for $30-40, but $60 is a colossal rip-off

  27. StubbinMyNubbin

It’s still baffling that they decided the Metroid Prime Remaster was only worth $40 but this is worth $60.

  28. mccicee

Just get Nikoderiko and the magical world. It’s like $20 on the eShop and better than Donkey Kong imo.

  29. TotallyNotCalledEvan

Another example of a very good game, and a very mediocre port. I already own this twice, no way I’m triple dipping for that price

  30. xxxserge85xxx

Amazing game, I Will buy it next month!

  31. Quinine911

Never played this before so it’s a must have for me regardless of the price

  32. Some_RandomDude69420

Im so excited fir this! I remember playing on the Wii and loving it

  33. MarcsterS

If you haven’t played Tropical Freeze I suppose this would be a good starting off point.

If it wasn’t $60. At that point you might as well get Tropical Freeze, it’s a straight up upgrade to Returns.
