Today it was officially confirmed that Nintendo's new console is on the way, and now we're all wondering: how much is it going to cost? The original Switch came out in 2017 for $299 USD, a pretty affordable price for what it offered. However, with this new generation promising improved graphics, increased power and updated technology, the price could be very different.
Nintendo has always tried to keep prices competitive, but with expectations so high and competition in the market, it wouldn't be strange if this time we have to prepare our wallets a little more.
So what do you think, will they keep the price around $300 USD like the original, will it go to the $300-$400 USD range, or will they surprise us with something over $400 USD?
EDIT 1: According to this link from X, the price and release date of the console has been leaked, costing $400 at the start and going on sale on July 11, 2025. The user who has published this information is Zuby_Tech

$400 is my guess.
I feel like $400
The MSRP of the Oled have not dropped as far as I know. And I would expect the console to be more expensive than the Oled at $349. So a minimum of $399. Some reliable(?) leaker is claiming i is going to be between $449-500 though.
400$
in a perfect world, they decrease switch 1 price and sell it 360$ but given the sales dynamic of a 350$ console released in 2017 initially, I’m betting on 400$
$450 no OLED
399 base
450 bundle
$400-$500 sounds right given all the inflation we’ve experienced since the first one came out.
I’m expecting <=$499
450 USD
It’s got 12GB of memory capable of 7500 mt/s speed
Will come with 256GB of up to date flash storage
Will support SD express
Has a relatively beefy Nvidia t239
All this information is from reputable leakers
I don’t see this console selling for below 450
If it’s cheaper then, Good! But if it’s not at least my expectations will have been set accordingly.
The t239 supports DLSS, it’s the most advanced AI upscaling tech on the market
Between 350-400, with it more likely to be closer to the higher end.
Curious what the exchange rate here in Canada will be. Hopefully not $600 but wouldn’t be surprised either ($400 USD is about $575 CAD at the moment)
Accounting for inflation, 300 in 2017 is about 400 today.
Definitely at least 400, 450 is even on the table IMO. Nintendo, unlike every other player, wants the units to turn a profit from day 1 (that’s why they are using an outdated chip), so it’s POSSIBLE we’re looking at 449 (especially if they bundle in a game).
It will be $399.99. Source: I’m a random person on the internet.
Hopefully $399.99. I can’t imagine it doing as well at 500.
$399 minimum
$350 would be nice but I’m guessing $400. Also I bet they keep the switch 1 for a few years cheaper as an entry point.
$399+ Trump Tax=$599
I’m guessing 700NZD
Certainly higher because of inflation.
The big unknown is we don’t yet know what tariffs Trump will apply to this class of devices. This could potentially increase the price dramatically, at least for people in the USA.
There’s no ways it’s gonna be lower than $400.
€350 would be great but it’ll probably be €400.. cos everything is expensive as hell now
Who’s excited for tariffs!?
It’ll all depend on how much we get screwed over by the new guy’s tariffs
400 or 450/499 if tarrifs happen before then.
I mean it’s just a banana, Michael, how much can it be? 1000 dollars?
$300 in 2017 are $390 today.
It’ll be between $399 and $449
My guess is Game Stop will sell a $600 with $200 of useless stuff.
I’m more curious if the original will get a price drop and they sell the new one at $300
The tariffs will be added to gaming consoles.
About Tree fitty
$399 assuming no tariffs. With tariffs, the sky’s the limit.
I’m pessimistic so my guess is $500
I’m honestly putting it between $400-$450. I would appreciate if it was cheaper, maybe the $350 mark. I just FEEL like $400 makes the most sense for some reason.
I think between 449 and 499, but i hope I’m wrong and it’s less
How about $350?
I’m guessing $400. Nintendo consoles are heavily aimed at kids, and more expensive consoles are a harder sell to parents. Not saying a $500 price point is impossible, but that puts them in competition with other big consoles. People who get drawn to the Nintendo consoles by the lower price are going to find themselves thinking of the other consoles.
Of course, the proposed tariffs could throw a huge wrench into things.
Not to be political or anything, but I really feel like this price depends on the political climate on imports come release. That’s just the unfortunate reality.
