I ran into this video a few days ago and actually watched all 7+ hours of it. I played my first Super Mario Bros. game in 1988 and have a definite bias toward the old NES titles. At first, I had a visceral, negative response to his lowest ranking Mario 3 levels because they were some of my favorites! However, I wanted to here out how this kid could possibly justify his opinions. I still don't agree with him per se, but totally understand where he is coming from. I also realized that even though the New Super Mario games get a lot of hate, some younger gamers (like under 30) have a lot of nostalgia for those games. Anyways, this is a fun watch, even if you have to divide it up over several days to watch them all.

I saw it when it came out. Didn’t care much for it tbh.
When he ranked every moon in Mario Odyssey for his 100k subscriber special, he factored in how fun each moon was to do in various different ways, including self-imposed challenges (coinless, captureless, jumpless, etc.).
But he seems to completely ignore that here, for his 200k subscriber special, and just judge each level based on his one initial playthrough of whatever path he happened to stumble on, rather than looking for alternate angles and fun challenges. Especially given how prevalent “small-only” playthroughs of 2D Mario levels are… this really feels like a missed opportunity.
