2:20 YES, I’m glad someone mentioned the incredibly passionate OST. I consider these trainer remixes as part of expanding trainers’ stories. Wally’s theme went from a 30 second loop to a more emotional track that absolutely rocks. Giovanni has a more intimidating standard theme with each new Giovanni theme reflecting a different feeling in his story. The Neo Champion themes are so heroic, the decisive themes highlight the rarely-heard encounter themes, the list goes on. Defintiely one of my favorite parts of Masters
Edit: Not to mention each elite four trainer getting their own remix, something every mainline game has failed to do. I’ve always felt that the elite four were very one-dimensional characters, and giving them unique themes helps remedy that in my opinion
Another Pokemon Day and another year of Pokemon Masters EX without Yancy. It seems like both her and curtis are the only named characters still not in this game after 5 years.
Love how they are making this game canon by introducing Florian from a different universe. I have this love-hate relationship with it because I'm unlucky with scouts. My enthusiasm came back when I finally got NC Blue and NC Leaf. Used them in Ultimate Battles and now only Nita's need to be defeated.
I picked up Masters yesterday (Mainly because I'm a huge sucker for Gen 3 and I saw May and Brendan's new sync pairs) and I already got May and Kyogre! It's been a huge help to me and I can't wait for the late game to come around where I can bring diversity to my teams and really start thinking. It's been a pretty pleasant experience and I'm working on leveling up my pairs so I can work on the cycling Elite Four and such. It's been great, especially with the incredible soundtrack. I'm excited to see where I can go with this 🙂
Honestly I’m very into playing through ultimate battles, while some think that they are unfair, I think that they are the most engaging and fun battles of the game, I know these stages require top-level units like arcs or NC blue, but the strategies and gimmicks are pretty fun to play through. I couldn’t get AS Steven but I still got through all levels except Nemona. I also find trying to make a budget team with my limited resources a very interesting experience. I even try teams that are really creative, beating Plamer with Holliday Lillie, Rei and AS Cynthia. Ultimate battles are just my favourite addition.
8:00 i dont know about this one chief. As someone who play and master since day 1 i can say that master is far worse. The pity is higher and its not saved between banners. You are likelly to not even go to pity because most of the time you have multiple banners to go for that dont last too long. Master is more a game where you dont go to pity because you will get the character before that but also can get shafted more since you rely on luck and you wont get a consolation price at least considering pity doesnt get saved so if you dont get a character you just wasted gem. They dont even give enough gems to guaranted a character for patch and the odds are technically different from what shown because althought the limited characters have a higher % to appear the standard characters are simply so many that they have an higher % to appear compared to the limited one.
4:14 my favorite theme has to be the Lodge Night Theme. I rarely care about soundtrack in pokemon games, but when i hear this one theme in particular… my god, i was this close from crying.
Despite me giving the overall game a 6/10, is still nice seeing some positive videos about Masters EX. I think everyone just hates it for it being a gacha, while the whole game is more than that. For both the better and for the worse.
One of my many issues with the game is the very limited amount of resources and stamina the game gives you in comparison to the amount of events you have to play and characters you have to build. Now, i played this game since 2 or 3 months, but i have way too many units that, at best, are at lvl 135. No sinc grid, no move lvl, no nothing more. And that's because even with full stamina + the extra 200 daily, is still not enough.
This makea the overall team building feel very slow, as sometimes you don't feel like you are making progress.
But overall, i just wish the game was better: better pity system, better qol changes, better… everything. Either Dena don't listen too much, or the community doesn't give good suggestions. I wanna believe the latter, as i only spend money on games/companies that have my respect and i wanna have a good excuse to spend a few bucks to them.
But hey, it can be worse. At least is not the Gen1 Red, Blue and Yellow games. Right?
My favourite track in this game is probably Sonia's theme. A character that never battles in her original appearance gets this wonderful, almost triumphant theme that fills you with optimism. Other shout outs are the Subway battle theme, Zinnia's theme, and the Kanto Neo Champion theme.
One of my favorite remixes in the game is Emma's battle theme. It's always cool when the game remixes an overworld theme into a battle theme, and this one took one of the saddest themes in the series and turned it into an upbeat battle theme, which perfectly represents Emma's character development. Considering it's basically all but confirmed she'll be back in Z-A, I can only hope they give her a battle theme at least as good as the Masters remix.
Pros: 1) Lots of diversity in pokemon and characters 2) generous with handing out currency (gems) 3) Cool battle style and mechanics
Cons: Since the release of Arceus suits 1) Auto pick was raised from 300 to 400 pts 2) rates seemed to have tanked – if a new sync pair comes out, I used to reliably roll it just before getting enough points to pick who I want. Now I get what I want via maxing out 400/400 pity point rolls.
The animations for Trainers might look jank, and of course the 5th Anniversary stuff still feels gross now, but it's definitely an important game for the franchise, because it serves as a live example of a Pokémon game with voice acting for whenever the mainline series decides to pull its head out of its arse.
With the increased monetisation though, I wish I could pilot and inspect my favourite characters in third person like Genshin. I also don't know about the listening to feedback thing, at least recently. If anything they've doubled down on the power creep imo
On paper, PokeMas seems like the perfect game for me. I adore the human character designs in Pokémon, the games' lore and soundtracks (the remixes in this game are insane too), and Masters was especially attractive because the fact it had actual voice acting meant we'd finally get to hear what characters would canonically sound like (outside of anime appearances). So when I started the game a few years ago I was… pretty overwhelmed tbh. SO MANY menus and banners, so much event FOMO… The existence of Paid-only banners was also confusing to me as a Genshin player I also didn't particularly enjoy the style of battle gameplay back then. I guess I went into it thinking the battles would be more like the core games, and what I got ended up being so much more chaotic than I was expecting lmao
This video has kinda convinced me to pick it up again and play it at my own pace :> Would probs just focus on story stuff for the most part
This past 5 years of pmex has taught me the most insane budgeting skills by using datamine leaks to know how many gems i can pull with for a master fair

I played this game for a year now with maybe 3-5 days missed, I'm too deep, spend too much money, I can't get out, I'll be here untill I die 😢

I love masters but since the 5 anni they really been predatory
I play EX for only one reason. The soundtrack

I wanna see Wes and Michael from the colosseum series. Wonder how they would implement Cipher

great video! pokemon masters is really dear to my heart and i always appreciate videos like these!
I love the game and played since release but honestly, it lost a lot of good will due to the arc suits debacle.
As of now this game is much more better than tcg pocket. but if they can reduce the price of bunddle gem probably ill spend money on this game
