The devs behind Monopoly Go. Which already speaks volumes. They belong to Savvy Games Group a Saudian company.

For those of you that still play Go expect the game to become more heavily monetized. Never mind where your location data ends up, but that’s true with Niantic too. Keep in min Niantic sold your location data for years and that will continue to happen under Scopely.

  2. Run. Now.

    Delete your accounts.

    Stop spending.
I played Marvel Strike Force for years.
Micro transactions will get worse. New currencies will be introduced. More expensive offers will be presented. They will “miss the mark” and backpedal constantly. It’s a matter of “when” not “if”

Based on my experience playing Marvel Strike Force, the future of Pokemon GO will be dark.

I remember in 2016-2018 when Pokémon Go was relevant…

I’m still wondering about the reasons. Was GO not a CashCow?

I saw someone else on one of the Pokémon Go subreddits put it in perspective

This is Pokémon. This is one of, if not the most profitable media franchise ever, Pokémon is owned by Nintendo, again, one of, if not the MOST PROTECTIVE company of their IP. Nintendo would not approve of the sale if they felt Scopely was gonna kill the game, if that was gonna happen, Nintendo would’ve probably told Niantic “hey, one more celebration event, let everyone transfer their Pokémon, then kill it.” If Nintendo thought that Scopely was/is gonna cause harm in any way, they would’ve taken the IP rights away and just killed the game either with very little notice or without any notice

I was worried at first because I play Scopely’s tiki solitaire game and after every level, it’s an ad, so my mind went to “after every Pokémon you catch, it’s gonna be an ad, oh god” and started to spiral and give into the hype about how the game is gonna die, but like everything else right now, I am taking a stand of cautiously optimistic.

I guess, screw being optimistic ig, suffer

  7. My condolences to all those who play Pokemon Go.

Scopely bought my mobile game of choice Marvel Strike Force and it’s never been the same. 😔

As a Pikmin Bloom player, this is devastating. Bloom is already under supported despite making good numbers and is pretty significantly monetized already.

I’m not a fan of the Saudi government and I absolutely am not letting them nickel and dime me to death.

Looks like I’m due for an uninstall at the end of this month.

RIP Pokemon Go. Scopely can make good things but ruins them with such awful odds and micro-transactions. They make “pay-to-win” games look cheap.

I played 1 Scopely game before and said i will never even download a game they made/own. Well good thing i quit PoGo a while back.

It’ll be interesting to see the government’s reaction to this compared to everything that’s happened with TikTok

  12. Guess it’s time to transfer Pokemon to Home before they start charging you absurt amounts of money for it.

Hard to imagine Pokemon Go getting any worse tbh. I quit the game a few months ago and it was bleak then.

Scopely took the Yahtzee iOS app I used to play all the time and bit by bit turned it into a pay to win game full of micro transactions. I still occasionally play it but it’s not the same knowing that if I want to get some cool dice or shit I’d realistically have to pay money which I ain’t. In my opinion they enshitify everything they touch.
