I’m sorry you’re gonna do a “games that defined the Switch” list and include Hollow Knight, a game that was already out for like a year before it came to Switch, but not stuff like Mario Odyssey, any Xenoblade game, Splatoon 2 or Metroid Dread

I get the rationale that HK was like the first example of an indie game coming to Switch before other consoles from PC but by that logic there are so many third-party games you could also include in that conversation that either released first on Switch or are exclusive. Witcher 3 shouldn’t be here either, it’s an impressive port but I definitely think a game like Skyrim was the bigger deal being not just on a handheld, but being on a Nintendo system at all

The Witcher 3? Hollow Knight? Great games, sure, but not Switch-defining – they were on multiple platforms.

As much as I love Witcher, it didn’t define Switch. Labo was mediocre, and instead of SV, they should have picked Legend Arceus. Hollow Knight was great, but Hades was a third-party game that was just perfect for this console. They should have put Mario Odyssey, Legend Arceus, Hades, and Splatoon 3/Xenoblade title

Weird list. They mention Fire Emblem Three Houses which was amazing sure, but other Nintendo games like Mario Odyssey def should’ve been there. I’d even argue Xenoblade Chronicles 2 since that was one of the first big RPGs for the system and helped get Monolith Soft’s foothold as one of Nintendo’s main studios.

What are your top picks for the 10 games?

    In no particular order,

    Zelda: BotW

    Zelda: TotK

    Super Mario Odyssey

    SMB Wonder

Mario Kart 8 (even though it started as a Wii U port)

    Animal Crossing: New Horizons

    Metroid Dread

    Super Smash Bros

Xenoblade Chronicles 2/3 (take your pick, or both)

    Splatoon 3

I could keep going without ever getting to indies or ports of games that run/look much better on other platforms.
