I’m keeping track of my LG19 clears in this doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CltcsfTaXDgz_FHSlNci9BMzQBHFyj0z_f0a-I9Bi20/edit
This Legendary Gauntlet is interesting for a number of reasons. For one, this is the first time that it deviated from the pattern established by previous gauntlets. We were expecting some combo of Latios, Tornadus, and a Regi for LG19, and we ended up getting none of them
More notably, this is the first time a rotation has ever featured Cresselia, one of the hardest Legendary Arenas in the game. The fact that she overlaps with the other two stages in terms of counterplay makes teambuilding that much harder, too, but she is obviously the stage you have to consider for long streaks.
All that said, I brought best boy’s four units along for four duos. Funnily enough none of them are on Entei as I needed their utility in the other two stages.
Here’s how each battle went and the sync grids used:
Vs. Azelf: EX Lodge Wally / EX Lodge Marnie – https://pomatools.github.io/#/team?v0=024500045400&s0=5&l0=150&r0=6&p0=0&a0=13010602&t0=44444&g0=AAECAwQFCAsYGR0gIyUnKCstLi8&v1=012800030100&s1=5&l1=150&r1=6&p1=0&a1=18020401&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDhEUFxkaGx0gISIl&v2=0
While Lodge Wally does have Escape Artist and Natural Remedy, which would make him a perfect tank for Entei, I thought his defensive buffs and Attack debuffs would be more useful on Azelf. He has Unbending too, so he can run Stalwart as a lucky skill to prevent Azelf’s debuff gimmick. Lodge Marnie very much appreciates all of Lodge Wally’s utility as she is weak to Psychic, and in turn her accuracy debuffs help with Wally’s dodge-related passives.
Vs. Cresselia: EX-R SS Wally / Tech Charmeleon – https://pomatools.github.io/#/team?v0=000640&s0=1&l0=150&r0=5&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=4444&n0=3&f0=20&v1=012801028202&s1=10&l1=150&r1=6&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=44444&x1=true&g1=AAECAwQFFxseHyYpKy8yMzU&v2=0
I think with good DR in skill gear, SS Wally can solo Cress at 10/5. I wasn’t gonna try that out in a 12-day gauntlet, though, so I paired him with Tech Charmeleon, who has the funny niche of having both trap and Piercing Gaze. Trap does a lot of damage on Cresselia the first time you apply it, and for SS Wally in particular, it also unlocks his Sp Def debuffs. That let me skip out on Cresselia’s second set of debuffs, which was very helpful in preserving Wally’s Devastation multiplier.
Vs. Azelf: EX DC Wally / Norman – https://pomatools.github.io/#/team?v0=000900028900&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=18010908&t0=44444&g0=AAECAwQFBgcICw0QERITHB4gKCor&v1=012800033400&s1=5&l1=150&r1=6&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFCAoNFRcYGRseISIv&v2=0
This is one of the very few rotations where paralysis isn’t important, and moreover, it’s the first one where you’re given a stage that’s straight up immune to paralysis, which is a shame coz DC Wally’s debuffs would’ve been great against Cresselia. He puts them to good use on Azelf instead, and his sync acceleration and high damage meant he can get away with an off-tank like Norman.
If I didn’t miss the instaqueue in Bar 2, I could’ve synced before Azelf by using Wally’s TM.
Vs. Cresselia: EX Wally / Blossom – https://pomatools.github.io/#/team?v0=035100028100&s0=5&l0=150&r0=5&p0=0&a0=18050301&t0=444&g0=AAECAwQFBggKDQ4RFRgdIC4v&v1=012800033400&s1=5&l1=150&r1=6&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFCAoNFRcYGRseISIv&v2=0
Base Wally got Team Fast-Track 9 as a personal lucky skill a few updates ago, which may not be the defensive passive I wanted for him to finally solo Latios, but it did give him a very consistent passive for sleep chaining. He puts that to good use here, and Blossom definitely appreciates the Speed buffs as hers are tied to using one of her other moves. And, of course, I wanted a Ralts family moment.
I could’ve probably executed that Bar 2 better so that I wouldn’t eat Toxic, but eh.
