Hopefully the reports of abundance of stock is true. I’m hoping to get one on day one but if scalpers scoop them all up I’m not overpaying.

Gonna take the niece to her first “wait in line and pray you get one” I suppose. Should be fun for us and annoy the parents.

    >However, Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2 due to changes in market conditions.

    Wew boy.

  4. squad_dad

Sweet! Glad to hear the rumors of a significant price increase weren’t true.

  5. Going with Best Buy personally. Their pre-order experiences have usually been pretty solid.

Awesome!! Same for Canada id assume.
No price change to the systems.
Price change to accessories may occur ?

I was going to buy a pro controller day 1, but now maybe not. I play docked and I’m not a huge fan of joycons, but an $85 controller is wtf.

So excited! Any idea on the time at which preorder starts?

That Pro Controller price….hurts. I’ll probably be rocking my Pro Controller 1 for a good while longer.

Finally, looks like i can plan a day off now. Good to see no price raises

Any tips for someone that has never tried to preorder quickly? Just select my top two retailers and try to refresh the website?

  12. Oof, $5-$10 increases on accessories. Well hey, if that’s how they kept the price on the console down I aint complaining, especially considering they didn’t go up too much.

Perfect im on vacation starting 4/24 so i can go camp out in front of my GameStop if i have to for a preorder. And with my Series X trading in for $385 that’s basically the cost of the base system.

I love the pro controller but $85 is crazy work. Not their fault. Stupid tariffs.

The old pro controllers still work right? Might just use those even though I don’t think they turn on the console.

Remember people Switch 1 controllers still work. You can use your old Pro Controllers on Switch 2!

Everyone please read the article first and come to your own conclusions. It’s short.

So about the potential changes in the future, to me that seems like an intentional callout and warning of: “we’re keeping our word about these prices for now, but we *really* think we’re going to do a price hike in the future.” Especially because the accessories *are* going up, a console price hike must have been heavily considered. I imagine the Switch 2 will be sold “at a loss” (not really, but certainly not anywhere in the profit margins Nintendo wants), the moment they have to start shipping new stock to the US in a few months. There’s only so long they can do that, so this little bit in the messaging is basically a “we warned you” clause for when they do inevitably have to increase the price. And who knows when that will actually be. This might be one of the rare times when buying a console at launch will be the smart thing to do since it’ll actually be cheaper.

I wish the official Nintendo Store was accepting preorders earlier than May. I don’t think the other outlets will have as robust scalper measures.

  18. Based on joycons/pro controller going up $5 they seem to be adjusting most for the 10% Tariff on Vietnam, which is understandable they wouldnt bother adjusting the console price for 10% as they want the entry point to stay competitive. I guess they are planning to prioritize Vietnam made consoles (which they said was 1/3 of consoles) for all US shipments

Hopefully they aren’t having to eat a 145% tariff from China on anything, I cant imagine Nintendo choosing to do that.

  19. Definitely bummed about the increase in accessory pricing, but I’ll take a $5 difference on most things instead of a $50-100 difference considering the tariff situation.

  20. So is this Midnight Eastern Time, or Midnight local, and I’m guessing just at store opening for GameStop/bestbuy/target?

  21. SO STOKED. I was gonna pass on MKW, but now that the system prices have held, I’m gonna splurge so I can have fun with everyone else right off the bat. Now, to wait for the traditional badass LoZ case 🤑

The only accessory I want is the pro controller. I won’t get extra joycons right away and I do not care for the camera at all. This pricing strategy is good for me. Not raising the price of entry was a good move.

  23. This is the most logical move for them, to absorb the cost of tariffs on the console where they had a profit margin, and slightly increase prices for accessories which were being sold close to cost. I’m glad we’re not looking at a $600 Switch 2

Echoing the sentiments that this is about the best case scenario we could’ve gotten. I’m just hoping that sticking with Nintendo themselves for my preorder isn’t gonna bit me in the ass.

How the tables have turned. Everyone was upset about the pricing until they realized it might get worse. Now they’re happy with them staying. What a world.
