Typical Polygon hit piece and mis information, Nintendo are not against Achievememts, but they are against system wide achievements.

Most Nintendo games have in-game achievements anyway. While I enjoy Steam-like achievements, the ones in game are just as good and I find them fun to work on.

I’m sorry but system wide achievements just FORCES achievements on developers that don’t want to deal with it.
When I take finally take down a hard fought boss in Elden Ring and hear their meldramatic final words, I don’t want to hear “BleepBloop!” and get Gamer Validation points.

Can I at least get a star next to the games i complete on NSO?

I’d like a systemwide achievement score but wouldn’t care if not every developer participated.
If a game did use it, give it a nice 🏆 icon on the box or store page to show there’s support.
Would then be interesting to see the ratio if games that included them sold better. Bet that could entice developer opinions on including them or not.
