So I was looking up information on the OG Switch’s forthcoming Virtual Game Card update and found this little passage at the bottom of the page of Nintendo’s official Webpage with info on the matter (enlarged in the 2nd screenshot).
So basically when Virtual Game Cards are released before the end of this month (April) you will need to be connected to WiFi in order to eject a Digital game and thus, play another. Most of my collection is physical but I do have a dozen or so digital titles and on the Switch 2 had planned on buying the Mario Kart World bundle and will have at least one more and the idea of not being able to change the digital game I have installed while sat at the park or my sister’s apartment who has no wifi is a bit irksome to me.
Now I do have a hotspot but have poor signal at my sister’s place and not all player may have access to one so in my eyes this makes collecting digital games even less attractive then now when starting a new game while out and about is as easy as closing out the game and starting another.
Also this part might be imaginary but there’s a chance however small that a physical game may not play while a Virtual Game Card is installed tho this is purely speculation. Anyhow I look forward to hearing what all of you think of this? Is the ability to lend games to a friend in your family network worth needing active access to WiFi whenever you wish to swap to a new game?
