All the downsides of both physical and digital media and with none of the upsides of either.

Give me empty Game Key Cards I can register a digital game to then we’re talking innovation. If I’m unhappy with a digital purchase I’d like the option to sell it.

Overall I’m not a fan. The only real advantages are that 1) I can sell a game key card. 2) I can take it to a friend’s Switch 2 to play a game on it. Even then, they’re still digital games so if I ever have to download it again and Nintendo has shut off the servers I’m no better off than if I had a digital copy from the eshop.

I’m a collector so the game key cards have no upside for me as I have no interest in selling my games.
If the physical only has a key card then I won’t be buying it. I’d much rather buy the digital version at that point.

All I will say is that they’re better than download codes since they’re transferable
