Nintendo Switch

Do you guys realise you can remap the entire controller PER GAME on Switch 2 and save it to said game? Not just the new GL/GR buttons. I feel like this feature has flown under the radar a bit but it’s gonna be incredibly useful

Originally the only place (I think?) that reported on this was Nintendolife when they interviewed Nintedno of America's Nate Bihldorff who said:

The beauty of it is that you're going to be able to map your controller preferences by game and by profile. So once you have that thing perfect, the next time you boot that game up, you're booting it up as you, it's going to have your profile saved. It's going to be just like the experience that you want.

Asked if this also applies to all NSO games (we've only heard of it for N64 and GameCube ) he said:

I'm not aware of any limitations on it at all. I think in general on the system level, you're always going to be able to remap a control function. We have so many different controllers, it may vary a little bit. But my understanding is that on the system, [you'll] be able to do whatever you like.

Originally I was a bit unsure about this as Nintendo hasn't officially announced it and I thought maybe it was a misunderstanding and it was just the new GR/GL buttons that could be remapped… Nintendo then released a video showing how you can remap buttons using the Quick Settings menu which also only showed that you can remap those particular buttons…

BUT a quick look at Nintendo.com's page on Switch 2 Accessibility reveals you can also add all the other buttons to the Quick Settings menu with a toggle (see picture) which seems to confirm what Nate Bihldorff said! The Toggle was just turned off for that Nintendo Today video.

The caption under the video reads:

This is in reference to all the buttons, not just the back ones which seem to always be in the Quick Settings menu which makes sense.

This is a big deal and the fact that you can change all the buttons in-game will make it so easy and quick. Even PS5 and Xbox don't even let you do this, instead letting you just make individual profiles you turn on manually like Switch 1 did. This is like what Steam Deck lets you do.
