They followed through with their promise of launch day stock

Unsurprising. The console is, despite what a loud minority says, a well-priced and excellent piece of hardware. Wish it had 1 or 2 more killer apps on day 1, but I’ve been having fun enjoying Zelda and Pokemon at 4K 60, and Mario Kart World is a lot of fun.

Switch2 is about to surpass the Steam Deck’s lifetime sales in less than a week

But YouTube told me it was a failure.
Meanwhile I walked into a best buy and pickup a switch 2 effortlessly at 7pm on launch day.
It’s my first switch and I haven’t had a console system since ps3. I like it a lot. I can’t wait to catch up on the Nintendo games I’ve been missing. I picked up Mario oddessy and Mario cart world and a pro controller as well.

Thing’s sold out in every major distributor. They even had extras at retail, and those ones were gone by end of launch day. Whatever their planned numbers were, they clearly met them

The next time a Steam Deck pusher comes after you in the comments, remind them that the Steam Deck has lifetime sales of about 4 million units. Lifetime.

Switch 1 sold 15M the first year is likely the Switch 2 either ties this or perhaps it could position itself with 20M it’s first year.
Good news for ninty.

Crazy that this record exists yet I can still walk into my local bestbuy and pick one up. Nintendo really came prepared this time.
Crazy that Reddit had me thinking that this thing would be out of stock for months to a year after release.

My two big takes aways are this:
1) Waiting until you have stock, matters. Yes, they could have sold 3M units over the last 3 months by drip feeding 1M a month, but it would have tainted the discord around the console to be more about scarcity than it is about the console itself.
2) Retailers REALLY figured their shit out regarding online pre-orders and going against scalpers. This amount of consoles still wouldn’t have been enough to outpace bots if all the measures weren’t in place.

So, this article only states more then 3 million. What’s the actual number? Rumours were pointing to having 8-10million ready to go.

Not saying 3 million is impossible but I’d wait for a more reputable source to corroborate this. This article references the same Nintendo Prime tweet from last week. The only new info in this article compared to the ones we saw late last week is a named source, “Paul Gale” who is some random guy with 4k followers on twitter and no obvious connection to Nintendo. Its my first time following a launch this closely so maybe he has been right about previous launches but I couldn’t find anything with a quick Google search.

Love my Steam Deck, but damn am I always impressed with what Nintendo puts together – and these numbers prove it. Steam + Nintendo devices/platforms have me covered forever.

But think about reddit!!!!!!

I wish/hope I can get one soon, but all my local locations are all sold out T-T.

Imagine if Nintendo called the Wii U Wii 2 instead

Source is Nintendo Prime, this isn’t news, it’s an extremely unreliable source.

I hope there are 1 million pissed off scalpers.

To put into context. The ps5 sold 3.4 million systems in its first month. Nintendo nearly beat that in a single day.
Nintendo brought supply day 1. Now they just need to keep the momentum going.

This article appears to be sourcing the same random Youtube channel all of the other articles that have already been posting are sourcing.

And here i thought all of the soapbox posts, all of the white knights, all of the rage would have made it so no one purchased the console? It’s almost as if….we didn’t care what the extremely loud EXTREMELY annoying vocal minority thought huh?

I’m actually really surprised at this. Price and really only Mariokart as a genuine new title. I bought one because of fomo and I’ve not played switch for a few years apart from TOTK. So I have Mario wonder and few other titles I can enjoy. I’ve never seen Mariokart as a system seller. I know it’s always a high seller per console.

But popular youtubers told me these won’t sell!🤣🤣
That nintendo is “greedy” even through the platform they used did equally or worst greedy things

Turns out supplying enough consoles is good for consumers *and* Nintendo.

Shh, don’t tell the haters.

But reddit swore the product would simultaneously be a failure while also be unavailable in stock!
