I got tired of people spreading misinformation information on how the switch 2 games work so I made an infographic to help get the correct information across easily.
I made the image myself using game listings from Amazon and using ibis paint x to type the text and arrange the images.

Switch 2 also has games that are just a code in a box. For example Split Fiction.
It’s a little more complicated than just this though. Even games that come on the cartridge sometimes require a download to play the switch 2 version. The new rune factory game for instance. Marvelous stated many times it would be all on the cartridge but that’s simply not true. The switch 2 version has the switch 1 game on the cartridge but still requires a 14gb download to play the switch 2 version. I’m assuming this wont be the only game doing this.
You need the Internet the read this Reddit post, so I’m not sure how much impact you’re delivering to those who benefit most from this post.
There were plenty of times I put switch cartridges in my original switch and they knew there was an update and wouldn’t play without updating first, which I couldn’t because I didn’t have internet at the time.
To download ≠ to play. Despite your visual, the title makes it sound like every digital games require constant internet connection to be played while they’re not. Of course digital games needs to be downloaded. How would you get them then?
I am personally split on the physical media debate for these massive high fidelity games. On the one hand digital sucks for many many reasons, but on the other, a high performance 128 gb micro sd express card costs $60 so I imagine the equivalent performance as a rom chip would be a hefty chunk of the cost of the game.
For games < 10gb the cartridge makes sense but the game isn’t big enough to warrant a physical release.
Bit of a weird combo
These downloads are rough. 50gb for hitman alone? I wasn’t able to keep all of my switch 1 library on the switch 2. Going to have to wait for more sd express cards to pop up
