Nintendo is doomed! They are going to just make games! They are going to file bankruptcy! It’s just the switch pro! /s

Wii U 2? More like Wii 2

How many staples were used?

> As said, we don’t know how many consoles have been sold, but having more than 2,000 launch-day parties certainly seems like a success, and with such a record-breaking number of stores, the sales were surely great as well.
thefury4815
I think my favorite thing I’ve seen from switch 2 doomers was a guy who made a ten minute video on YouTube about Nintendo making switch 2 sold out signs to give to stores and claiming they’re manufacturing hype because of it.
PocketMonsterParcels
After a few hours with it, I think it’ll be a big winner. Giant hardware upgrade over switch 1. They will likely come out with a cheaper version in a few years once sales slow a bit.

It helps having to stock

GameStop also confirms stapling record number of switch 2 screens

Negativity gets clicks folks don’t blame the doomers they gotta eat but realistically did anyone really think this was going tp bomb?I’m a Xbot and knew this thing was hot,and don’t believe the bs folks same people tell me Xbox is dead for almost 2 decades now just enjoy it..
Fluid-Employee-7118
It is equal parts funny and pathetic to see how much people online are addicted to meaningless drama and negativity. It was so obvious from the beginning that all the internet sources, be it sites, journalists, youtubers, or redditors, were just shitting on Switch 2 and Nintendo for clicks and engagement, when 99% of all of them knew Switch 2 would have a very successful launch and that all of the negative discourse was so blown out of proportion.
Lord_Xarael
All that protesting by everyone. All the saying of “I’m not buying and supporting this bullcrap” and… Record sales.
I just wanna say yes the pricing sucks ass but if you want to play switch 2 just go ahead and buy one (i’m going to when finances allow cause being pissed is not worth NOT getting to play the new Metroid Prime or Zelda games when they come out.) your specific purchase is just one of millions that are going to happen regardless and not buying won’t make a difference at all. Your money won’t be noticed if you buy and won’t be missed if you don’t. So do whatever will bring enjoyment to you.
So buy or don’t, but don’t keep yourself from games you love to make a statement, they don’t even see you.

But but but but all those people boycotting switch 2…all those white knights on reddit soapboxes…you mean the vast majority of us didn’t care about their petty grievances and went ahead and purchased a console? Whodathunkit?
achedsphinxx
nice. here’s to hoping i can get one soon. best buy and target have them maybe, but none are near where i live. i just want to play that donkey kong game.
Been loving the Switch 2 so far , Cyberpunk and Pokemon Violet look and run amazing on it . As far as battery goes tested it for about 20 minutes this morning and lost 12% but that’s a non issue for me since my Switch stays docked 100% of the time .
MonarchRaiza
Proud of them. I had such fun at the midnight release. They were my savior when Target stabbed me in the back with that 11th ship date. This was handled perfectly and I’m so happy there’s enough to go around. I’m enjoying the HELL out of my switch!!
nymph_of_anduin
My local gamestop was hoppin at 9pm and this is in a more rural part of where I live 😅

That’s a lot of staples

It legit feels like a quality product all around.

Gonna wait for oled version

Gamestop breaks record of breaking day one consoles with staples, Guinness records later.
Davidrlz
People love to hate on the best. Nintendo is not perfect, but they are by and far, the best publisher and best developer. They keep putting out good products I’ll buy.
At least Nintendo doesn’t go on a multi billion dollar game dev shopping spree only to shutter their doors two-three years later.
Another_Road
There was over 100 people in line at my GameStop for the midnight release.
Moghz
I’m curious are they talking record breaking as in number of units sold or total revenue from units sold. Obviously the later could easily be the case with less units sold due to the price hike.
FelPhil
You’re not going to see this on top of the page of r/games.

Reddit turned from switch doomers to supporters REAL quick

Good! With all this hating on Nintendo recently about the most mundane stuff I wish them the best launch ever. All these pedantic console warriors must be furious haha.
AymericKing
It would be interesting to see long-term sales if this console will be a success or not, especially during the end-of-year holidays. A record launch does not necessarily guarantee the success of a console

It’s always satisfying anytime Redditors + neckbeards from other sites see that their echo chambers don’t matter in real life or reflect real life at all lol. Braindead people

My hands are too small!
SpacemanJB88
GameStop seemed to have that weird dead pixel issue. As well as the staple through the box into the screen issue.
I wonder how many returns they received due to dead pixels?
And I wonder if you returned due to dead pixel, and got a replacement, does that count twice.
TurtleMcgurdle
You had to be delusional to assume it wouldn’t have crazy release sales. It’s Nintendo. Id go as far to say it will probably be almost as successful as the original switch at the end of its life cycle. Personally I’m not getting one yet because I don’t have the money and even if I did, I’d still hold off on it.
Between it only having an LCD screen, charging for the intro game, and charging like $90 US for physical copies (what I buy for my Nintendo consoles) I’m not in a hurry to get this one. I think they charge an extra fee to upgrade the games you already have to HD as well right?
AdJaded6853
I love the larger screen. It is heavier when in portable mode, but I couldn’t care less. Every game looks amazing
_TheAfroNinja_
Cool. So When can I get my Nintendo switch 2?
userlivewire
Shouldn’t this be the case every console launch unless something goes very wrong? The amount of people out there and gamers total increases every year.
AndTails
Once the hardcore fans get their consoles, we can see if the Switch 2 will attract the casual consumer, the ultimate test for determining whether the console will be deemed a success. Certain stores selling out the first week is good, but others have stock readily available in person (not online). If casual consumers don’t see the value proposition in spending $500 to play Mario, the Switch 2 will be a long-term failure relative to the Switch.
Feisty-Noise-9816
And only a tenth of them have staple punctures on the screens!
gman5852
Angry redditors in shambles after finding out they still aren’t relevant.
Bregnestt
That’s what happens when they actually have the stock to sell
jbyrdab
GameStop definitely showed why brick and mortar has value.
Not having to deal with asshole scalpers.
I got up, got my preorder and got my console when it came out. Employees wouldn’t allow anyone to preorder more than one so there was sufficient stock for everyone.
The physical guarantee of a high profile product being there at the standard price is better than dealing with legions of bots made to buy up all the stock so you have to pay an inflated one.
