I’m really looking forward to this game. It’s lowkey copium, but I’m hoping they finally release dk64 on NSO soon to promote it too. Or just because it’s long overdue

This just reminds me of the switch one release when there wasn’t very many games released so everyone was buying whatever games came out regardless of what it was. I feel like lots of people who don’t even necessarily like donkey Kong will get this because of a “what else is there” feeling.

Really hoping they slip in some new costumes for DK and Pauline in Mario Kart World. Maybe even add in Diddy? I know it’s not directly related to Bananza, but as a little bonus.

This doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Nintendo knows what the reception to K. Rool’s reveal in Smash was. I suspect he’ll get a bit of an update as well.

God I hope this doesn’t mean Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is delayed lol. No new switch 2 direct that isn’t tied to one game, it’s the only game that has showed off gameplay, and it still hasn’t gotten a release date for this year. Please, don’t delay this game to next year 🙏🏼🙏🏼. Now despite all that, I am really looking forward to seeing more Bananza this game looks awesome and I have it preordered.

Very interested to learn more about this game. I got to go to one of the Switch 2 preview events and we were able to play Bananza for about 20 minutes. It is a beautiful game — the art style, world design, everything. But I left a bit meh on the gameplay. I am hoping it is just because we got to play a bit of the intro level and then just a bit of what I think was the next level (unless the demo was programmed to jump us ahead because there wasn’t any narrative between) so I missed context on what was actually happening. I had a blast smashing stuff and collecting things for a few minutes and then the smashing felt really redundant. In the second area, one of the employees pointed out on a cliff face that I can’t smash ALL of that rock and my first thought was “that would take *forever*”.
I always love DK games, so I really really hope there is a lot to the story that I am missing and it is more than just smash smash throw this smashed rock at enemy.

Is this going to be like the Mario Kart Direct from 2 months ago that was just a 15 minute ad for the one game and nothing else?
After seeing Summer Game Fest showcase dozens of new games – none of which were announced for Switch 2 – I thought maybe they excluded Switch 2 because Nintendo would announce them at an upcoming Direct. But now it looks like there are no announcements.

Mario Kart has been great but this is the real system seller for me. I have very high hopes for this one and am hoping to have my hype levels go through the roof this Wednesday.
