Honestly I don’t mind it feels close enough to Mario oddesy. Im not a Mario fan boy where it’s gotta be him I just really liked the mechanics of oddesy. So as long as I have that I’m good.
Edit: I am a DK fan boy though so if the next platform like game isn’t DK I WILL RIOT.

>The levels themselves aren’t quite as vast as Odyssey’s, but that’s mainly because they’re structured very differently.
I really like that the leves are limitated and Bananaza isn’t an open world game

I think it’s pretty obvious that Bowser’s Fury was the sneak peak of the next 3d Mario, and it probably is coming soon.

It looks incredibly fun! Every single thing I’ve seen from it screams it’s a me game 😆 I’ll probably be up late smashing every single part of the level just cause

We needed an iconic 3D platformer that wasn’t Mario. Love those games but we have more than enough of Mario stuff.

I had no interest in the game until I heard it’s like Odyssey. Thinking of getting it now.

I haven’t played Mario since trying Galaxy on Dolphin for a little bit. But it felt way too weird since it was clearly designed for the Wii. I did finish super mario 64. Haven’t played DK since I was a kid. So I am pretty excited.
I do have the Mario collection. I also have the collection and Odyssey. I will try those after DK lol. I want to dive into DK completely fresh.

It does look really good and both my daughter and I really want to play it, but I can’t justify spending over $600 to play a single game.
Mario Kart is fine, but it’s still Mario Kart.
Metroid is dropping on both Switch 1 and 2.
Gonna need to see this library padded out a bit more before I look to replace my perfectly fine OLED Switch.

More like the Switch 2’s true launch title.

There have been so many naysayers on this and other Nintendo subs about this game that I wonder what they are going to be complaining about next if this does truly blow people’s socks off?
Their crystal balls will obviously fixate on the next game they think is going to be dross before even playing it.
Metroid Prime 4?

So hyped for this game. First 3D DK game in forever!
fireflamespitta69
I need this game to drop asap 😭

I’ve never ever played a single Donkey Kong game, but Bananza has me hyped. If it’s as good as Odyssey, we’re in for a treat.

Really wish donkey Kong was out now ☺️
neko_whippet
lets hope for a demo because each time I watch a video of this game my interest goes lower and lower
JayMan2224
This should have been a launch game

I was already day one with the game. But I think this is going to be an absolute banger of a game. Can’t wait!

I really hope we get a new 3D Mario though. This looks fun, but I don’t think it’s for me. I was hoping for an Odyssey 2, or something new.
funktopus
Never played a DK game that didn’t have Mario in it. The trailer made me want it. I figure I’ll watch some gameplay after release and decide if I’m picking it up then.
It looks fun though.

Boy do I wish this would have been a launch title.

Without cappy? The platforming is what I liked from Odyssey so I disagree. Fun game breaking hat jumps was how I spent so much of my time

To me this feels like banjo Kazooie, but honestly, seeing a little bit more of this, it’s just Splatoon coded so hard
Tasty_Bite1984
if the odyssey team made this. then its a day 1 buy for me

I played a bit today at BIC Camera, it felt fun to smash everything including the terrain but that’s about it. I’m worrying if there’s any difficulty to this game.
Darkchaos
I mean I agree, kinda… but also it’s a bit weird to say it’s the “True Successor” when there haven’t been attempts to make an “Official Successor”
But here I am expecting IGN to have a good article title

People don’t seem to realize that this game is an expansion of the gameplay from the conclusion of Super Mario Odyssey’s story. After defeating Bowser you take possession of him using Cappy and while Princess Peach rides on Bowser’s shoulder you proceed to smash your way out of the castle. It was honestly one of the most fun parts of the game. I’ve been calling DKB the sequel to SMO since I saw the direct and that is not an insult.
DarthLuke669
That’s cool but I’m more interested in Mario Odysseys actual successor
TheReal9bob9
I will be playing and enjoying it but I really hope it doesn’t take the place of a full 3d mario game. Last time that happened we got the wii u which although it had mario games they were all linear gameplay not 3d multiple open world levels. I live for the 3d mario games, inject them into my veins.

I’m pretty excited about it after the direct, but it doesn’t seem that similar to odyssey to me from what I’ve seen- it seems less open, more like a linear path with big set pieces and some side diversions (hoping I’m wrong about this and just getting the wrong idea from what I’ve seen so far. The comparison to mario 64 and sunshine levels in the article is promising, but the comparison to galaxy levels is worrying).
Also between the destructible terrain and different physics-y liquids and things they showed in the direct, I get the impression that it’s more of a physics sandbox like the recent zeldas rather than a platformer with specific set challenges like odyssey, which is less interesting to me.
Still excited to play it but I’m not expecting to like it as much as 3d marios (or even DK64).
