I’m playing Mario Kart World every day, so I guess it was a good launch game
It is a really nice game. I have completed 160 p switch missions. Free roam is quite interesting in small bursts. Otherwise the knockout is a blast and true highlight. It is so good that it has made grand prix boring.

The only Nintendo launch game
makoman115
Agree with ur points
This isn’t an open world game like breath of the wild, but it is nice to go around and find little challenges.
Knockout tour is insanely addicting
The loss of 3 lap courses in online is sad, but at least locally we can still play them exclusively in VS mode.

I got 3 stars on all cups in 2 days, and haven’t touched it since. The tracks are a step down from 8, in my opinion.

Me too. Love the game, but it obviously needs some QOL improvements and updates. Regarding the open world, I’ve reached the point where I have to search for P-switches (I have 310) and Peach medals (I have 120) so I wish there was an indication of where to look rather than driving around aimlessly. I’ve also unlocked all of the costumes but I still have some Kamek characters left which I can only hope to get by playing more. Again, I wish there was a different way.Last, the multiplayer mode needs more modes and incentives for people to continue playing.
All in all though, after almost 50 hours of game time, I have no regrets about its purchase. It’s the best Mario Kart I’ve played, and I’m looking forward for the future ! 🙂

It is a lot of fun, but I’m also really aching for Donkey Kong Bananza. I just want a big single player game like that to dive into with this new machine.
Linkbetweentwirls
I enjoyed it for about a week, its fun but nothing I can get my teeth into
SadLad406
I don’t personally play Mario kart but after getting this one my husband has been playing it everyday and I even play it with him quite often. I actually really like it
Purpledroyd
Love the game but no dedicated 3x track mode has kinda killed it for now (for me). Also kinda hoping they add some live service elements to it (new courses, tournaments, new characters) cause right now there isn’t even a tiny carrot on a stick to play for.
Sure it’s a blast without anything to aim to unlock but it’s always nice to have a small something imo
SapporoBiru
I don’t play it every day, so it’s a bad launch game?
hammonjj
Honestly, my wife and I find it pretty disappointing. Maybe we just aren’t adapting to the new driving style very well but we played the hell out of MK8 and after a few night of this one, we are finding it to be far less engaging than the previous title
SaintLink91
It was good for you.
BushTamer
I got tired of it. I think an update would draw me back

I’m not a huge Mario Kart fan but it really is a blast.
UnderHero5
Not getting to do multiple laps on the tracks made me drop it. I love racing games, and part of that is learning/refining racing lines on tracks. Getting only once chance to drive through really sucks. Especially in the normal Grand Prix mode. There’s no reason we should have to drive between tracks in Grand Prix when there’s already a dedicated mode for that.
Mechanically the game is good, but what they did with the Grand Prix mode makes it one of my least favorite Mk games to date.
Gronkattack
I still prefer the amount of content in MK8D, but I really like World to for them trying something different while maintaining the basics of the series.
blueblurz94
It’s not holding my attention as much as you. But I’ve put in about 20 hours in the month and it’s really great. Personally I’m looking forward more to Metroid Prime 4.
Lupinthrope
I just want xenoblades and fire emblems to get a switch 2 patch

Coping the lack of launch games?
RChickenMan
I just wish they would’ve built free roam into a rich single-player experience similar to Diddy Kong Racing for the N64.
Far-Choice7080
Controversial take, but I’m not a fan of free roam.
I play Mario Kart for mindless racing action. Free roam is a cool concept, but I really don’t care for the open endedness of it and want some structure. Yes there’s P switches but you have to go find those and they’re not overly substantial.
I just think they sacrificed content from the main game (lower number of tracks than previous games) for essentially side content. And yet they lock mirror mode behind it.
iamthedayman21
I’ve played it maybe an hour or two. It’s fine. It’s basically just more Mario Kart. I think it’s worth the $50 bundle price I paid.
mattb1982likes_stuff
Is it because it ls the only actual launch title?
Panda_hat
I’ve enjoyed my time with it but theres no denying that the open world is empty and devoid of meaningful content, and the game feels very unfinished.
The courses and cups are great, as are the new gameplay mechanics. The lack of a 3 lap GP option is a travesty, as is the changes they’ve made to choice and selection forcing people to play the intermission sections against their will.
RawWrath
Played it 3 times in a month I guess it ass
rites0fpassage
Meh. Each to their own I guess 🤷🏽♂️.
I got bored of it pretty quickly, I’m just glad I technically got it for half price with the bundle £34 in the UK. Definitely did not live up to expectations. It needs *a lot* of future updates for that.
DadooDragoon
I mean… what choice do you really have lol
Effective-Ground918
Definitely fun but ask yourself is it $80 fun

I bailed after a week. They need some serious changes to get me back.

Unironically having more fun in Welcome Tour at the moment. I miss the 3 lap Grand Prix, I know you can play them in Vs but I need that carrot on a stick – going for the 3 stars on every cup with 3 lap courses is all I want, but just playing Vs for the sake of it doesn’t appeal to me. I guess that’s why I’m having more fun in Welcome Tour – going for 3 medals on each mini game is really addictive for me, trying to best my high score on each one while pushing for the 3rd medal.
Haven’t bought NSO yet so don’t have personal experience with MKW online, but the fact I’m hearing you can’t even do 3 lap courses online as singular races is ridiculous to me, and I’m in not hurry to pay for NSO until they add it as an option. The intermission parts of each track are some of the most tedious “racing” sections of any racing game I’ve ever played. They make sense for KO tour, but don’t mess with the normal 3 lap racing formula. As they say – if it ain’t broke, don’t slap a wide ass highway on it.
On the plus side though I’m enjoying Free Roam a lot more than I thought I would. Some of the P switches are genuinely difficult, and satisfying to complete. Boss battles, a proper single player campaign etc would’ve been cool, but what’s there is a fun, chill experience nonetheless.

Haven’t played since the update destroyed online.
