There hasn’t even been a shortage yet where I am from
donprostata
What shortage? At least in my country is extremely easy to buy one, there is a lot of stock, some stores are even dropping the price on them
ItsMikeMeekins
what shortages? i had no issue preordering it, and ive seen it available many times at different retailers

There is no shortages in France and Europe in general. The US is just full of scalpers and people who buy like wild animals.

Not that much Switch 2s in my area. But it gets restock in a few days. Then it gets sold out in a few days or in a week.

If y’all actually just clicked the article link, you’d know they’re talking about Japan.

Minnesota has had single digit restocks. Every store sold out. I was talking with one of the Target electronics employees and he said their shipment that week was two. Best Buy told me that same day that they received 2 in their last shipment (both sold when they opened) and they knew another nearby store received 1 that day.
I ended up getting mine by ordering online pickup right before the store opened, the one they stocked that day, also Target.
There are apparently tons in some stores, but there’s still absolute droughts out there.

Literally no shortages aside from the launch week.
These analysts don’t have a clue what’s going on, they always come out with stupid statements

To anyone asking where: Japan. The shortages are mostly happening in Japan. Here is almost impossible to buy one unless you’re lucky in one of the lotteries, and it looks like that’s not going to change for a while. I have given up all hope of getting one this year.
Also, it helps a lot to actually read the article before commenting.

I live in Japan and was lucky enough to get one on the first drawing. However, I have had no luck getting a switch 2 pro controller, and scalpers bought them up

Not in US

In the Netherlands my local shop has had 4 pieces in stock every time i was there the last month.

Very dependent on region, though waiting is good to be honest, I’ve seen quite a few early adoption taxes with the Switch 2, and experienced one myself (faulty Ethernet port on the dock) so waiting for some hardware revisions isn’t the worst thing.
TheJohnny346
Every time a shortage article comes up every person from bumfuck nowhere comes out the woodworks to state how there’s no shortage near them. I guarantee that pretty much anyone in or near a major city can go to any store and will not find any systems, carrying cases, pro controllers, or micro sd express cards. Those 4 items are the most desirable items since release that I’ve seen.

The new clickbait is leaving important information out of the title so people grandstand about clicking the article.
75% of the engagement on this article is either “It’s not sold out in my area.” or “If you clicked the article it’s talking about Japan”

Nintendo have handled the supply situation pretty well i would say. I wasn’t able to get a PS5 at its normal price before 2022 but i managed to get the Switch 2 comfortably during its first month.

I wonder how they are dealing with manufacturing the Japanese units since they are Region locked. That is likely the main bottleneck since there is solid supply for the US and Europe.
eagleblue44
Meanwhile, it’s still impossible to find a switch 2 near me in the US.
Humanitysceptic
Lol best thing is there is a switch 2 forum run by the worst mods I’ve seen. I posted there was low stock on Amazon and they cancelled my thread as it was a rumour. Than I posted a few more times sharing info on stock shortage and I was banned.
Fake news right? Lol. It’s shocking how some subreddits are run.
bigsithenergy99
I found it incredibly easy to get two here in South FL. Trying to get the PS5 in 2020 was much worse
joaks18
Japanese should visit Finland, plenty to go around. People are refusing to pay the Nordic distributor tax on Switch 2, and buying from Germany.

Question for those living in Japan – does this extend to peripherals as well? And is this the international version, Japanese only version, or both? I’m going to have a layover in Japan in a few days and was hoping to get a Japanese only Switch 2 and some peripherals but now I’m wondering if that’s a pipe dream.
AncianoDark
I’ll grab one when the next LOZ is ready to roll
The_urban_Guru
I got mine through walmart+ early access without a hitch. I have up on the lottery through nintendo.
raylan_givens6
what’s the urgency anyway?
we’ll see how DK is , but so far no must play game is on the horizon
dare2gare
But no one will want it after the hardcore buy it. Right? 🤣
ratchetcoutoure
There are shortages? I thought stores have kept restocking this past month?
Those who bought early for Christmas gift this year would be so happy they did right now.
fullmetalasian
I actually saw 4 in my Walmart today which was surprising

u can not get these console n japan; it has big shorttage
tony_stump
u/Remote-Ant3253 “give it a week” how’s that looking now?

*I know the article is saying the shortages are in Japan.
Just want to say the situation in Singapore is exactly reversed. There are plenty of stocks everywhere. On the resale market, new switch 2 are going as low as 10% below retail price.
JCTrick
Oh, no. That means I’ll be behind by… 3 games. 🥱

There’s a shortage?
That’s weird cause on my local Facebook marketplace there’s hundreds of listings
barbietattoo
No wonder I’m doing so well in Mario Kart World online!
_Heathcliff_
That tracks. I’ve had stock notifications set up for 7 retailers for weeks and haven’t gotten so much as 1 notification. Nintendo has botched this launch pretty badly.
