Nintendo Switch

Every Switch (2) game case should have this on the inside

I’ve personally only seen a controls overview like this on Asian releases so far and I think it’s a great and handy use of the inner space! Makes up a little bit for the absence of the manuals of old. Unfortunately a lot of games still have only white on the inside.

  1. Lol jokes on you, games used to have manuals and maps inside in full color ;p you are literally praising the downgrade.

  2. As an alternative sure, but I’m gonna be that guy and say we should have user manuals and pack ins.

Yes many of them were functionary, but there were the few gems.

Racing games had track breakdowns car specs. Star tropics had additional bits like letters. Zelda had a fold out map etc ..

It’s such a damn shame Nintendo went with the red cases for Switch 2, which pretty much bury anything and everything the game developers may have wanted to show off on the inside of the case, be it artwork or something as cool as this!

I don’t mind the big fat red banner at the top with the Switch 2 logo, but having just seen the post with the early copy of Bananza, you can see there’s some kind of artwork on the inside with Pauline, which just looks dull with all the red on top of it…

That’d be a nice compromise between no manual and all and the old instruction booklets we used to get.

I miss those thicc booklets of manuals.

  6. Most games don’t use these exact controls though

They re-released Ghost Trick… on the Switch 2!?

    Mother……

Ghost trick phantom detective is one of the best games ever made.

Sadly, this would violate Canadian language laws

They need to release some games first, my switch 2 has been hijacked and is being used to make another animal crossing island.

Nothing coming down the pipe that has me thinking it’s worth the hassle of getting it back, will just use the oled

This reminds me of the cases from back through the time tunnel at video rental stores.

If you were lucky the inside had all the basic moves and often a very hilariously bad summary of the plot. To my experience, there was always some text blocked by the cartridge holding pieces, so I’d be twisting it around to try to figure it all out.

You think ghost trick graphics should be in every game case? Interesting… I think it would be better if every game had its own personal graphics inside the case.

  13. Steefmachine

Why would every switch game have Ghost trick on the inside?

Wouldn’t it be better with content related to the game you have opened?

  14. Condemilka

I loved that game on the DS but without the stilux it loses meaning. The switch is tactile, why haven’t they taken advantage of it?

  15. I’d rather just have a manual and artwork on the inside. Bonus if it’s a reversible cover.

  16. The best case I own is Alex Kidd DX. You can turn the paper inside out so it looks like the original Master System game box art AND it comes with a little manual !

I wish more games had this secondary box art option, and came with a full manual too. They are so cool, having the inside of the box be its own small manual is better than nothing I guess but I wish we still had the full thing.

  17. LazyPainterCat

They should have old school manuals. But i guess this is better than nothing.

  18. LightScavenger

These are boring, I can learn the controls in the game. I’d rather have cool artwork/a reversible cover.

  19. THE_GR8_MIKE

Absolutely, if they won’t just do manuals.

  20. Back in my days, games came with manuals, that also included backstory, concept arts, etc.

    Ah my knees!

  21. BakeNBlazed

Not that long ago you used to get a whole manual book.

  22. or Switch 1 game case for that matter.

But its all up to the publisher.

  23. Would be better than it is now at least, cause as is, its just a giant waste of plastic.

  24. EowynCarter

Yes. Bring back the full game on cartridge, manuals…

Installing Metroid remastered, and then surprised there isn’t even one small day one bug fix patch. That have become so rare.

  25. BrilliantStandard645

I liked it when the game controls / overview was programmed in with the game and was an option for each game on the home menu screen

  26. HarryNohara

I prefer to have totally blank inside, but with a cartridge present.

  27. MiyabiMain95

costs too much money to produce, keep buying our 80$ games pls look forward to it

  28. RetroEggy

That’s what manuals used to be for. I miss those. But this would be a great compromise.

  29. Since the Switch 2 cases are red instead of clear, they should take advantage of that.

Back in the day, there would be ‘secret codes’ hidden on product packaging, cereal boxes, etc. You’d use a set of red tinted lenses to reveal what was underneath.

They could do something similar here by including a small manual or leaflet that you put under the red to reveal the message.

  30. pudgybunnybry

I just wish the cases weren’t red, as it makes the artwork for those games that have it less visible.

  31. Switch game cases don’t even have the game anymore

  32. Aren’t the SW2 cases red opague though? You won’t be able to see the inner printed layer. Dont get me wrong it’s nice suggestion but I think the shipped has sailed for the SW2 case design

  33. Banjo-Minnow

I hate to be that guy, but Switch 2 cases are opaque red so this wouldn’t work with them.
